Nature. Especially water and forests. It is truly my sense of spirit.

watching my hubby do the dishes with both kiddos hanging on his legs and everyone giggling as he tries to keep from toppling over. ;)

Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.

well i would say both my girls, just watching them grow and learn into the creatures God created them to be, but you said besides family so that would be sitting on my front porch in a sea of flowers watching the sun set with my dh , painting my toenails and drinking iced tea! Could not get much better than that.

I caught my heart singing today when DH got down off the bulldozer and joined DD and me for a picnic. I know, you said "besides family" but I didn't expect to get such a zing out of seeing him on the bulldozer leveling out my new horse paddock.

We make a difference.

Definitely being outdoors with all of the beauty and splendor that nature has to offer. I love to sit outside and listen to the birds singing during the day and the 'catydids' and crickets at night. What a wonderful symphony they both perform!

Our family does the majority of our camping in the Spring right before public school gets out and in the fall once they all go back. So for me nothing beats the crisp smell of dew in the morning when I get out of the tent and start the morning fire or when I head out to the gardens and walk my yard with a cup of fresh coffee. Even in the city my yard is a haven for a pair of turtle doves, cardinals, robins, bunnies, ground squirrels. I love sitting and watching them. Even if the bunnies have eaten all of my green beans this year!

Being at the beach and my flip flops, sweet tea and buidling sand castles..yep..I am a beach gal!! I Love the smell, the sights, the feeling of coconut oil on my skin and how it smells, watching the waves forever changing the landscape, the simplicity of just digging in sand all day, eating fruit and drinking out of juice boxes. I also love to take pictures of anything and everything.

I think for me it is watching nature...I love to watch birds and just all sorts of things nature related.
I have been enjoying looking out my kitchen window every morning at about 8 or 9 in the morning... and on my most favorite tree right out the kitchen window..every morning at the same time I have a pair or ring neck doves that will come and sit half the day on the same branch every day..it is so awesome to watch them just sitting and being a pair. They'll groom each other and give each other little "kisses" and it is just the sweetest thing. (I know I will miss them when I move from this house) Then the other thing that makes my heart sing is watching the butterflies finally arrive in the yard and soar across the flowers and into the breeze.
Another thing that makes my heart sing is capturing nature with my camera..actually capturing just about anything with the camera..children,nature..anything.
Another thing is..plants and flowers...I have always, always loved to watch things grow..the entire process of it..from digging in the dirt to plant a seed, to when the seed starts pushing its way through the soil, and then finally when a flower blooms.
And of course those things are outside of "family"...but of course family always comes first and what they mean to me makes my heart sing..tucking my children into bed at night and hearing my little one who is 3 say to me..not a good night..she sometimes says that, but her funny thing to say when she wants to say something sweet to you is "drive safe"..LOL so it is always so funny and makes my heart sing..to hear her say to me at night in her sleepy little voice as I'm walking out of the room.."love you mommy, drive safe"
And then to hear my son say.."sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite..then we say in unison.."and if they do..hit em with a pillow til their black and blue"..LOL
and of course the kids coming up and saying"I wanna snuggle cuddle with you".
nothing like it.:0)
and then of course..a hug from my sweety and a kiss on the cheek.
and the 3 words that always make a heart sing.."I love you"
------------
but yeah..outside of my family..I'd have to say nature.
