Sweet cherries are no problem to find in the Great Columbia Basin area. I am after tart or sour or pie cherries. I got an e-mail (I must have started it) and was directed a short distance (35 miles) from me. My future DIL and I are going to pick some sour cherries tomorrow. Are you drooling yet? I'm going to freeze some and the rest will go into a cherry pie. I've been wanting this for a very long time.

Wow Betty! Those sour cherries sound amazing!
We bought some dried sour cherries from Costco last month. They were so good! My husband who rarely eats fruits and vegetables was eating them by the handful. I think I am going to buy more bags when I go back so I can soak cherries overnight and then make a "fresh" cherry pie whenever I want! :D

Those pies turned out to be wonderful. I have frozen enough for four more. Made one for my helper and one for me and they both are gone. Thank you to the farmer that allowed me to pick at his farm. I feel really blessed.

We have a cherry tree--the in-between type. We use to have a dwarf one that was really, really sour. Made good pies and jelly though. I miss it. A tornado got it and several other fruit trees a few years ago.

We have a wonderful cherrie tree......We planted it about 10 years ago and it produces beautiful cherries!! Not to sweet and not to tart....they are sort of in-between!!!

I ate a lot of cherries at Miss Wilma's, right off the tree, but I'm not sure if they were sweet or tart I was eating them so fast!!!
Sounds like a wonderful thing to me, though...take a picture of those pretties when you get a chance!

The thought of a real cherry pie is just amazing. I used to have a couple cherry trees years ago, but they got blown down in a hurricane. I'm sure that pie will taste delicious, enjoy, enjoy, I'm going to try not to drool....
