Posted - Jul 14 2008 : 12:29:17 PM I love to find little china or glass birds at the thrift and garage sales. I put them in my plants. I took a few pictures. I got a plant from my Aunt's house years ago when she passed away, it had a little bird in it. I left it right where she put it and its still there. So one day I thought why not find some birds and put them in some of my other plants. So that is what I have been doing. I think its a nice idea if you are giving a plant as a gift to put a little china bird in it. NANCY JO

Posted - Jul 14 2008 : 4:33:12 PM My MIL put all kinds of things in her plants. Ceramic birds, sea shells, and even fake flowers. But when I see yours, Nancy, I think they look so nice and homey. They remind me of her.

Posted - Jul 14 2008 : 1:21:41 PM Gosh, Nancy Jo. So many of your thrift store finds bring back memories for me. My grandmother (from Buffalo) used to put china birds and other animals in her plants. I always played with them when we visited her house. When I went to the estate sale cleaning out her house last fall, I was drawn to this little china bird on the sale table. It seemed familiar but I couldn't remember why. Now it all comes back! It's one of those birds I played with. I've got it on my dresser, but now I know where it's supposed to go and I'll move it when I get home. |

Posted - Jul 14 2008 : 12:38:10 PM The birds are really cute in your flowers. I never thought about doing that, although I have put the concrete ones in outside flower pots. I also have a couple of concrete bunnies I use.
