I'm looking for some new ways to display my kid's clothing at shows. I just have wire hangers from WalMart now, but I'm really not happy with them. I use those with old style clothespins to display the skirts on a rack and hang jackets on them on a lattice wall. Anyone have any ideas for decorative affordable hangers for kid's clothing? My brain is empty and I can't find any ideas on the web, just expensive, custom hangers from hanger manufacturers!

Jessica - it depends on the show. Some shows I do are "wearable art" shows, and I can only put in clothing items. Others, ususally the small town festivals etc. are not juried and I can put anything I want in my booth, so I ususally sell clearance things, tooth fairy pillows, quilts, etc. at those. Most shows, you can only sell what you jury, so I have to make a decision about what I want to sell and jury those items, ususally jackets, hats, and quilts. thanks for your help!!

Sherri - your little ladybug jacket is adorable! I'm definitely emailing that to a dear friend. Her wee little one's room is in ladybugs.

When you are doing shows, do you do just clothes, a mixture of everything, or how do you normally showcase it? I think I may have some photos from one of my Wilma trips with how she shows her clothes for shows and shops. She may have it on her online page too, but I'm not for sure.

I'll ask a few of my buddies that shop in children stores/boutiques if they saw any cute ideas.

beautiful linens .. and be on the lookout for victorian collars that were on women's fancy dresses! i just 'drape' them over the hanger and then hang the dress .. the lace shows at the neckline hiding the hanger. you can wind pretty ribbon up around the hanger 'hook' if you don't want it to show.

here's a gentle little 'prissier' hanger made from 'fake flower vines. this one is appropriately small because of the dainty dolly dress.

you can just use a wooden dowel .. paint or stain it .. wrap it with your floral vines of choice .. loop the vine for the 'hanger'.

this can be as dainty as baby's breath or as bold as sunflowers!

a cute little 'candle holder' 'HANGER' .. again .. don't add the hanging nails .. .. these can be painted, or stencilled to match the clothes to be hung on them.

a wire hanger that looks like a real wire hanger can be attched to the hole if you have to take them off and put them on a rack constantly.

i did a quick walk-about .. and took some pics of a 'few' hangers i have dolly clothes hanging from here at freedom valley.

any of these ideas can be 'adapted' and 'tweaked' to be prim, prissy, funky, whatever style you like.

this is a 'woodcut' hanger .. but you can make them smaller or change the shape .. don't add the 'nail pegs' .. but attach a pretty ribbon (or your choice) through the middle hole ..

Sherrie one of my favorite things for display is wonderful old shutters, I also have some great patterns for wood hangers that I would be happy to send you, I think the hanger would depend on the clothing you were selling. Let me know if you need these they are my own designs so I will be glad to share

sherri .. i LOVE all your children's clothing ... i would like to get the LADY BUG JACKET and the LADY BUG HAT for my little grand-daughter, Sofia. Can you tell me if the SIZE TWO jacket would fit a two year old? and how about the hat? how 'small' is the small and how 'large' is the large? would the small fit a two year old .. or should i go a tad larger and get the larger one?

she will be two mid-september .. and these look to be more 'autumn' .. is that right? she's in a size 24 month clothes now .. can sometimes wear a TWO .. is the TWO slightly larger than a 24 month size? (in the stores, sometimes they look to be about the same to me!

can i just send you a check directly?

you can also staple wire (chicken wire might be cute) .. you can PAINT the wire a bright color .. then paint a backboard to coordinate .. you can then hang your clothing from it .. flat against the wall .. so as to not take up a lot of room.

hey .. another idea sherri .. i'm picturing a clotheshanger wrapped and padded in a coordinating fabric .. as your dolly clothes.

for 'prissy clothes' .. i've taken pretty laces and hung them over a hanger and then put the dress on it .. just make sure the lace looks 'appropriate' with the outfit.

sherri .. do you ever make 'matching' dolly size dresses? (t.j. max has some ADORABLE girls dresses with matching doll dresses (i think they are the 'american girl' style size). if you could get some dollies that would fit into your chair .. maybe you could make a few 'matching' outfits .. don't have to 'sell them' .. but would be adorable i think.

oh .. and don't forget how dear clothes look strung on ribbons and clotheslines .. with or without 'clothespins' .. and if you do use clothespins .. don't forget to 'paint' them.

jonni ... "now"? isn't that modern? today? up-to-date? when looking at sherri's clothes .. they looked to be all of those .. which all mean the same to me. really sweet clothes.

sherri .. i e-mailed you back some pretty specific ideas on how to make those painted hangers .. hope it is all understandable. i can try and make some later this week if you need to see some samples. (gonna' be bizzy makin' dollies today!) i'm pretty sure the ones i made are packed .. and they were more 'prim' .. darker colors with sweet little words or verses on them.
