my honey hunk has just signed up for another of his 'macho man' trips .. this one i think is for a month during january and february of 2009. he 'almost' signed up for one to trek to the SOUTH POLE .. but the more he told me about it .. the more it sounded just like a GRUELLING hike in snow for 200 miles .. travelling through and ending up in total BLEAKNESS!!! he HATES to be COLD .. and he just climbed up Mt. Everest .. which should be enough COLD to last a man a lifetime.

i told him that i did not see how he could possibly do that South Pole trek and NOT come back with an older and more battered body FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE! He would face hypothermia and frost-bite every moment of the trip .. it soundled like a CHALLENGE . .but not much FUN!

AND .. it cost $45,000 PLUS airfare!!!!!!!!

i think i musta' gotten through to him cuz' he researched some other 'antarctica' trips .. and came up with one where you do indeed do 'part' of it .. but don't go ALL the way to the South Pole .. AND .. he will also visit Argentina, Chile .. and another country or two .. climbing mountains, hiking, biking, boating, ice fishing, horseback riding and seeing other interesting countries .. and at ONE THIRD of the price of the South Pole trip!!!!

i adore that he does these trips .. he doesn't want to 'get to the HOME' as he says, and have regrets of adventures not lived. he has a WONDERFUL "Bucket List"!!

as for me .. i love travelling too .. and don't mind some 'roughing' it .. but when i go to foreign countries .. i want to see all the 'real' cultural lives lived .. but i want a safe and sane trip with all the plans made for me by a fabulous travel tour company.

TRAVEL LEARN is the best in my opinon .. they took us to Greece and Africa .. and those will forever be two memorable vacations for me!

I'll be checking their brochures for another exciting adventure sometime soon too!

I also want to see ALL of AMERICA!! i've seen and lived in quite a bit of it .. but was WORKING at the time .. ant to spend more time in the North, South, East and West of America!

what is left on your BUCKET LIST to do in this lifetime? xo

(i want to visit Israel!)

karin .. hank has done his 'macho' trips long before i met him .. HA! his biggest adventure .. Uncle Sam sent him on .. VIETNAM! i don't think he's ever been afraid of anything since then! He has an adventurous soul. i do NOT go with him for sure! But i do tell him that whatever his trip cost .. i'll be at home spending that much too!! HA!

I love adventures .. but love seeing 'historical' sites and learning things. Don't really want to do any scary death-defying things .. but i so admire that he has this running through his veins.

Funny isn't it .. i wonder why we all like what we do? our up-bringing? in our genes?

They would have to pay me to trek 200 miles in sub-zero temps, and even then there is not enough money in the world to make me do that. That Hank is one brave guy to even think about doing it!
I love both of your spirits of adventure. Me? Well, direct me towards I-75 in either direction and I'm happy, because either way I go there is a sister at the end of my trip. :)

I just can't think of anything that feels that important that I don't already have or haven't already done. Not that I've done a lot. I guess I'm just content in my own little corner of the world. I don't really know what to think of that since everybody seems to have that "list". I'm just not NORMAL! haha

i admire your 'sky dive' thingie .. don't think i'll join you on that one .. but i will (and have) done some rock climbing.

ha! been designing my own 'style' of clothes since i was a teenager!

funny .. i never wanted a housekeeper .. but i'll think about maybe adding that one sometime in the future.

thanks for your list. i love to hear what friends wanna' do in this lifetime! xo

what a trip!

before i die, i want to:
write a novel
spend a year in both south america and the british isles
sky dive
rock climb
design my own line of clothes
make enough money to hire a housekeeper

What we write today slipped into our souls some other day when we were alone and doing nothing.

Holy cow, Frannie, that 1st trip you mentioned sounded dreadfully torturous. I wouldn't mind seeing the south pole just to say I'd been to the bottom of the earth. But I would rather ride in a nice warm snow machine.

There are some things I'd like to do and places I'd like to go, but I wouldn't say I had a bucket list. These things would be fun but, I don't really feel that I HAVE to do them before I die. If they happen; great. If not; it's not that big of a deal.
