I need help with my online store name. I want to have my mom's name in it so it should be "Maggie Lou's ......." as she is a major contributor to this.. but I am not quite sure what it should be. Any helpers on this?!? I would really appreciate it. :D

I guess, in part, that's why you two brought the Judds to mind as your mom looks like she could be Naomi's sister. That and the red hair. You're prettier than Wynona, though. Tell your mom I said so if she gets a kick out of it.

So many ideas and choices... I like yours too (Frannie) ... Maybe it will evolve as it grows... lol....

Lisa ~ What a compliment! We love the Judds and used to sing them all the time! When I tell Mom about this, she'll love it. lol. Now way back in the 80's, My Mom really looked like Naomi in particular ..lol. I'll have to find pictures and put them on the blog sometime soon. :D

Brooke .. i think it is o.k. to have a 'mouth-full' for a store name .. and then jus' 'NICKNAME' it when you are talkin' about it.

My little 'on-line' shoppe is called:

MUDPIE MANOR MERCANTILE
(goodly goods of yesteryear)

.. and i will usually just refer to it as

"MUDPIE MANOR"

ALSO .. if you want to include YOU .. something like

"Maggie and Me" is cute and 'grabby'

OR:

Momma Maggie and Me
..

and you know how businesses used to say something like "STEVENS and SONS" .. how about

Maggie Lou and Daughter .. or

MY MOTHER'S DAUGHTER ...

and unless it is a surprize for her .. be sure to ask your mom what name SHE likes.

Very nice, Brooke! It's easy to read to and easy to follow. I like it. I can't help but think how much you and your mom remind me of the Judds. You and your mom are so pretty.

Hi, Tina, I can't get the logo any bigger than that unfortunately. It's a little frustrating. The site works well but does have limitations. I'm still trying to figure out why the photo in the left hand side won't change. lol. I've been working on all this all day. Having hip/back problems so I have to sit put. It's a good thing to do in the mean-time. :P

Alright, Zan, don't smack me for taking it back but after thinking about it, I think I've shortened it just to Maggie Lou's and I am going to play on that with other things in the future. (Meaning Marvelous will get in there somehow with other things.. lol) Thanks to you all!

Tina Michelle, how do you like the graphic in the left corner on the website ---
http://maggie.ecrater.com
does it look cluttered? Let me know. I thought it was cute.
I have a feeling if I had a store offline, most people would just
call it Maggie Lou's anyway... lol
Tina Michelle Posted - Jul 06 2008 : 12:32:25 PM
what about just simply "Maggie Lou's" or "Maggie Lou's Mercantile"?
You want it to be able to roll off the tongue easily for not just yourself and your mom, but also for your customers. Not only that, but when business cards, and any other marketing materials are created you don't want alot of "cluttery lettering" to take over.
Plain and simple gets the message across with class.
Being married to a graphics designer who has nearly 20 yrs experience in design work and marketing I have learned that too often folks come up with too much information or too long of names on business cards and things get real cluttered looking on business cards and brochures and there isn't much left that one can do to help a client that overloads a business card or a brochure with too much info. The cards that always wind up looking the absolute best and classiest are the ones that allow for a bit of space and creativity with designing logos and aren't trying to cram every single detail onto a tiny little card or brochure.
I think when it comes to a name for a business simpler is best.
just my 2 cents worth.
Good luck!
