Thanks girls for your input. I need to make a phone call tommorow to see if I should fill out an application and then we may need to make a trip up that way. I think that's the smart thing to do.

I live in Kentucky but have visited Montana on one occasion. Our local Cattlemen't Association took an educational trip to Bozeman and surrounding area. BEAUTIFUL territory. I would love to live there. We did go to Billings, but it was at night and you really couldn't see much, but I'm sure it is beautiful as well.

Hi Theresa - We have a place in Mosby, MT, which is north of Billings. I'm not sure where Columbus is, but absolutely love it there. We built there a couple of years ago and hope to move there when my dh retires in 4 years, sooner, if the economy picks up! I was very surprised to see Laura say it was expensive to live there as we have found just the opposite to be true. Everything in our area is much cheaper than what it is in Washington, where we are now. Gas, land, services, were all about 25% lower than Washington prices. Must be just our area. Anyway, we love it there and another very active farmgirl, Alee, just moved to Billings, so the movement must be on!

Theresa, I am from Billings (born and raised there), which is about 30 miles from Columbus. It is a beautiful area with lots of mountains and farm land, too. I love it there. I live in Arizona right now, but will be moving back to Billings to take care of my mother, hopefully by the end of the Summer. I have a cousin who has lived in Columbus, now, for many years -- I would say going on 25 or more. She is a jewel and lives on a farm of her own, there with chickens, llamas, horses wild turkey and much more. I have some pictures I took while I was there helping mom last summer for about 3 months. I could send some to you so you could see what it looks like there. It is beautiful country. Good luck on your decision. I found it not to be any more expensive, though, than lots of other places, although the economy is so bad right now everywhere -- it probably doesn't matter much where you go -- everything is expensive. And, Montana doesn't have any sales tax, which can be good and can be bad, depending on lots of things. Good luck on your decision. Smiles and Hugs, GiGi

I grew up in Montana and lived there for 30 years. It is very beautiful but very expensive. I would move back there in a heart beat if I could afford it. Most of my family is still there.
