well Ok.. maybe not really! Although I am not sure right now which I would miss more ( after a fair amount of time had passed of course)
MY DH is a pack rat! and it drives me wild... He and my youngest recently look a road trip to CA.. while he was gone I went through and got rid of about 3/4 of it... But truly it is the kind of stuff that will never be someone elses treasure....AND the dog............it is my sons dog (he is in the coast Guard) so he cannot have it right now. First the little beauty wont stop eating my watering hoses... So I have to put them away and drag them back out everytime... today I planted more rows of lettuce (Heirloom) for the food bank... and planted marigold between the rows... the crazy animal pulled out EVERY SINGLE MARIGOLD.... UGH!!!! and then I swear looked as if he was laughing at me..................I have a dog run, but dont have the heart to make him live there.... until NOW...He did get a time out.. but seemed to not mind..........This spring it was my new rasberry plants that he "pulled" out........ANY THOUGHTS GIRLS??? HOW DO I KEEP HIM OUT OF THE GARDEN? I am thinking I will need to put a picket around the beds....silly dog! ( I have to admit the dog is the only thing that saved the DH ( I guess he truly is mans best friend).. LOL

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.......................Jodi... do you think there is a "lemon-law" for hubby's and dogs????I would hate to get in trouble with the law for false advertisment LOL...
OK.. truth is, my hubby is amazing even with the one little flaw (the pack rat thing)...and I am sure sometime tomorrow I will remember that (LOL).. but I will keep your advice close.. Just in case!

Oh, and if you get a decent bid for them, you can use the moolah to buy yourself new marigolds.

Husband and dog have to go?? Hmm... try listing them on Craigslist or eBay, Rene. I think those two sites are probably your best bets. You might even find someone willing to take them both together...  LOL

Susan... very clever......I might try that.. So set them and put them down upside down so that the pop up but cannot hurt the old fella?

Hi Rene- my dog used to pull up the geraniums, roots and all, and bring them into the house. I bought a bunch of wooden mouse traps and set them upside down by the plants, so if me nosed around there it would flip up and startle him (since they're upside down it wouldn't catch his silly nose.) I don't know if he just got tired of geraniums or if it was the mouse traps.

Annika - How funny.. I am glad you clarified between the dog and Hubby (LOL), I may have had a hard time explaining why I was sprayer DH down with "bitter apple spray"... He (the dog) has a kadrillion toys.. but truly, if he can have it.. he dont want it...(again, the dog)...LOL
Jami- I think you are right....of course I always "hate it" when I "have" to buy more lattice or wood.. but a girl has to do what a girl has to do (LOL)... and I think there is a "badge" for building a "garden gate" ....so.....best be getting on with it.

I hate to make even more work for you Rene, but it might be a good time to get acquainted with the dog. The dog has too much time on its hands/paws. Sounds as though he needs to be walked a couple of times a day to get some of the excess energy out of his system. My dog walks around the garden, but never in it. She has been trained that way. It wasn't difficult, but it took time and a watchful eye.

Hate to make work for you Rene but it's probably time for a garden fence. I had a problem with our free range chickens getting in the garden and the dogs too even though we had a "corral" around the garden (it's an old horse pen we turned into a garden spot)...ended up fencing with some hog panels and it even keep the skunks out!

You might try some of the bitter apple spray (for the dog, not the husband  ) on things that he chews up. Look it up on line if you can't find it at the pet store or vet nearest you...sounds like a bored dog too, so some chew things might help. Most vets can advise you on various no chew type sprays. The bitter apple is what we had when my dogs were young and chewers if I remember right. I think you could use a non-toxic soap spray , but please check with a vet, cuz I don't want to make the dog sick, just stop tearing up your hard work! Just some non toxic thing that will taste bad to a dog . Poor gal! I'm sorry about the marigolds and the rest of the dog's "Victems" too.

Somewhere I read or saw that if you put plastic jugs of water, various levels around the yard it keeps the dogs away. I wonder if that would work in the garden. Has something to do with "freaking" them out, not an ordinary thing - something like that. Though you have to move them periodically or they get use to them being there.
