I was thinking that comfort and joy shouldn't only be for Christmas. I could use a pick-me-up right now and would love to lavish a basket of fun on one of my farmgirl sisters, so anything goes, don't spend a mint, talk to your partner when you get matched up and see what is ok (I've found a lot of people are allergic to scented candles, for instance) I will close the sign up by the 4th, so sign up quick!

This should be fun, remember comfort and joy

UPDATE: We have until the 4th to sign on for the gift exchange. I will pair everyone up on Saturday and post it then =) I cannot wait to see what we all give each other!

UPDATE UPDATE! I'll count everybody up, put us all in a big straw hat and pair up names in a bit. Gotta go fix some fences first....life is never quiet on a farm

Shelba, I sent you an email.

Thank you for the good thoughts, everyone! Janie is 18, and is really getting her sense of humor back. She will be helping run base camp when her friends climb Half Dome next weekend since she still has vertigo and is only 5' 1", so the cables would be a challenge if she felt better. She also made an appointment for learning disability testing this afternoon, as my 4.0 college student says she has problems reading aloud, now. School begins on the 14th, so she needs to find out how to study under these circumstances before she messes up her grades.

Samantha, sorry to hear about your mom. My mother in law finally had to move to skilled nursing two years ago, as she would not move closer and kept getting dehydrated/electrolytes out of whack. While she hates it, they really are taking good care of her, and her mobility has improved considerably. The down side: she is 3 hours away if we hit the traffic right, and moving her to our town has not been possible.

Take care, Shelba

Willowtreecreek's box for me came today. Look what was in it!!!

3 Ways to Dinner cookbook, MJF Recipe Issue (which I had planned to get eventually), 2 MJF outpost products (chili, organic spuds), ribbon, bias binding, a Thank You stamp, pink notecards, handmade Christmas coasters, a notebook that is covered in pretty paper, and a MJF bumper sticker (that's going on my little red Subaru today!)

What a nice surprise for a hot Monday morning! That chili will come in handy for a fiber festival I'm going to up in northern MI in late October...and I can't wait to get into the recipes in the MJF mag and cookbook. Julie you are so on the mark with a cookbook that gets dinner on the table in 20 minutes! When my boys are hungry they want food ASAP! I like it that it gives you an entre', side, and desert that all go together.

Thank you Julie for my gifts, and thank you Annika for setting up this whole swap...way cool for my first time.

I got my package in the mail today!!! What a wonderful surprise. I had been gone most of the day with a group of homemakers and I came home so tired. It was nice to sit down and relax with a box of treasures.
I got a MaryJanesFarm special issue! An old lysol bottle (I love it!),a little wreath, some christmas oranments,.hot chocolate, a journal, cookbook, a jar with wooden hearts around it, a notepad and oh gosh, I am sure I am forgetting something.
After I rest up I will try to post a pic on my blog.
Thank so much Melaine!!! going to take my magazine lounge around for a couple of hours until it cools enough to walk the dogs.
Thanks again.

Oh Shelba! I am so sorry!!! I hope your daughter is recovering well (and the rest of you too). How old is your daughter? Take care
Shelba Posted - Aug 01 2008 : 9:44:58 PM
My box to Elphie went out yesterday via priority mail. Rough month--daughter sustained head injury and we spent a week at the hospital. Mostly, she is okay. The whole experience took away from my time to create things, but I believe the box will still put a smile on Elphie's face!

Take care, Shelba

Melaine, I am so glad you liked your little box of treasures. They told me when I called to place your order that it would take about 3 to 4 weeks for your MaryJanes Magazine Subscription to start. You will enjoy it most of all. I love her magazines and know you will too!

Well, where do I start?.....Joy (downbranchroad) sent me a treasure package full of wonderfullness!!! Everything was so nicely wrapped in tissue paper with ribbon and a cinnomon stick waht a nice touch and when I opened the box, it smelled heavenly!!
Inside of all of this beautifully wrapped bundles where awesome gifts. I opened it at the kitchen table and hubby was there. He stopped reading the paper to see what was going on. He said "wow, that's freaky...it's like she knows you" Every gift was something that I LOVE!! things that I would have bought myself....an old pill tin, old advertising cards with bobypins on them, like the kind the old drug stores would have sold. there was also more neat tins and a beautiful needlepoint table topper that will look so good in my bedroom under my lamp. there was much more....I will try to figure out how to post a photo of all of my goodies.
Thanks soooooooo very much Joy...you made my day-heck- you made my week!! thanks again...

I received my package from Karen earlier and I've never seen so many goodies packed in a box. She even included a crocheted towel that matches the border in my kitchen perfectly, it's beautiful! Books, homemade blueberry jam that was yummy (I finally got it back from my husband!), candles, crocheted little dress, a cd, Mary Engelbreit iron on transfer, autumn decorations and an autumn puzzle. All stuff that I love! I loved everything I got from her and I'll try to get a photo taken of everything and post here later. Thanks Karen for such a thoughtful and beautiful package. I put your package in the mail this morning and I hope you like everything. I'm sorry it's out so late, hopefully it will get there early this week or it will be Christmas in August. Thanks again Karen!!

I'm so glad you liked the box I sent!! I posted my picture by uploading the picture onto Photobucket, then cutting and pasting the link from there into my post on MJF. Hope that helps! (I'm not real computer savvy so I'm not sure if I used the right terms?)

Julie...well we are two peas in a pod! Mind didn't make it out either! Hubby got a new motorcycle and we've been preoccupied! New classroom???? Waaaaay cool. (I hope) I know moving can be a pain, especially for someone like you. I know moving my office and 20+ years of sped stuff was a nightmare...can't imagine what it'll be like with all your art gak! Good luck and don't worry about a timeline....all the more of a big surprise!

Thanks Annika! Well, since I have never handled a swap...Swap Goddess can be yours! If you knit come on over to gathered up! I think we just turned into a knit along instead of a swap! A couple of folks wanted my round dishcloth pattern so I posted. I think we may be on our way!

Annika Posted - Jul 21 2008 : 06:02:28 AM
Hi!, this is only my second swap, so don't consider me a swap goddess, but.... I think that first, you need to set down 1. what you are swapping, 2. how long people have to respond to the swap (like until the 5th of August) and then,3. how long people have to send in their swap item(s) (like the 20th of August) I like to give people time and enough of it to get things done, since I am a busy girl and so are many others.

I hope that this little bit of ramble helps.
I hope that you have a wonderful time with your swap =)
