Wow Karen! I am so jealous as well!

Ireland is one of my favorite countries out of my heritage and I SOO want to go visit one of these days! I would love to pack up and take a flight over there this minute if I thought I could!

One of my favorite authors Anne McCaffery lives in County Wicklow. How is cooking school going? Are you missing hubby yet?

Getting ready 4 ireland's not as easy as it seems...
Aer Lingus has generous luggage requirements in today's complex world of air travel, but even so, this fat cat ruins my baggage weights. Among other things! See?

Frannie, i hope to use it in my career but if nothing else it is very fun! I think te Ballymaloe Cookery School is one of the best in Europe and it has an organic farm to table approach thatmade me choose it over a french school.
Karen to, i hate to fly but I LOVE to travel more and so i get on the planes...

Karen, Gee I sure am going to miss you! Hope you have a wonderful time. Some of my family was from Ireland, I have always wanted to visit but am terrified of planes, I have always said until God puts feathers on by back on wings on my side my feet will stay firmly planted on the ground. Lol I will of course be praying for your safety and for a wonderful time. Email me if you get the chance. Love ya Lots, Karen too.

Karen, I was thinking that was where you were headed, and again I'M SO JEALOUS. What a dream of mine, for so long...I've eaten there, as well. What a joy, what a joy. If only I wasn't so "romantic" when I was in Cornwall (ha! how ironic, your name, that!) I was way tooo busy being a helping hand around the farm and falling for all those cornish men. Big and burly stock and good as gold!

Well, I just wish you the world and am so happy that a fellow farmgirl can follow her dreams. Please, Karen, please pop in or write a quick email...cooking is a true love of mine and I've always wanted to do exactly what you're about to do.

p.s, I'm English and Irish, and Native American and Cajun (and our food is GREAT).

dear all, thanks from bottom of heart for all this activity. funny thing is, & this is for you two cornballs- oops meant cornwalls, my last name is England -yep 'tis! so hijack tread away. i love it.
i will be learning everything including irish cuisine at the ballymaloe cookery school in county cork. it is a 100 acre working organic farm and you can see where i'll be& some of what i'll be doing at
www.cookingisfun.ie
this is my third stint at school thanks to my dad. i will not be certificated 'cause that requires 3 months at a stretch and i can't leave hubby for that long at one time. this alternate method of a few weeks at a time over many years has been a blessing to say the least.
Making a 6uess at what your next ? is-
England is my married name & I am of German/irish descent, heavy on the german. love, Karen

Sarah! Me too!! I lived in Cornwall for about 2 years myself! Not to highjack this thread, but which part, where? Wasn't it the best place on the planet?

That is so wonderful....one of my dreams! Not the cooking school part although Ilove to cook too...actually I love to eat. But Ireland and horseback riding across it maybe. I still have relatives in County Donegal in the north but I only know OF them but other relatives have been there. My great-great-grandmother's cottage is still in the family and they just replaced the thatch roof within the last 10 years with a metal roof. Isn't that something? Oh...have a wonderful time and will you learn Irish cooking or all types? I would love some original Irish recipes...I have a few from Food Network from Tyler's Ultimate where he went to Ireland and then came back to the U.S. and improved upon it but you will be right there...firsthand! AWESOME BLOSSOM! I hope you can keep us updated. What is your favorite type of cooking? And what will you be learning over there?
Tell us more!
