This was a busy weekend around our part for yard sales. Wanted to share some of the things I got: wood country floor shelve that holds books on the bottom and has a small drawer and two shelves (wood with country green) for $2.00!! Got 16 x 24 coke picture with country store, 2 8x10 of primitive school and general store - got all 3 for $5.00. New purse for 2.00. Tons of stuff of my grandson. Even got him a little tikes tug boat swimming pool for 2.00 and sandbox for 3.00. I was so proud of all my stuff. I would love to share some pics with you all if I ever figure out how to do it.

I am going to clean up my bookshelf this week and paint and then I am going to put it to very good use! I forgot o mention that I got a teapot with matching sugar and creamer and salt & pepper shakers and a gravy pitcher for 3.00 still in the boxes. Never used. Also got a set of glass mixing bowls for 2.00. I looked back at my post and remembered that I hadn't mentioned everything. So Saturday was a very good day for sales in my neck of the woods.

Nothing like a good yard sale day in the summer. Where else could you come home with so much for so little and be happy?

Dh took me out again today. We scored! I found a shabby end table that my hubby thinks is cedar. It has one drawer and a large cubby underneath. perfect for my books. It is green and chipped paint. Just need to sand off the stuff that is peeling up and it is good to go- for $1! Got a students drafting table for $3, a big round wall mirror for $2. A nice security gate for $1. 3 vintage aprons for $1.50 and a boat load of books for less that $5 most of which are really nice cookbooks. A big stack of magazines for free. The end table, the aprons, cookbooks, and mirror are my favorite items for the day but the nice time spent with my hubby was priceless!

Oh I envy you gals! Where I live they are few and far between which is probably a good thing becuase I LOVE them and my house is full already! But I love hearing about all your "treasures".
I have promised myself that my house has to be cleaned and organized and garage sale/thrift store stuff boxed up and ready before I can bring anything else into this house! So....that may take awhile so meanwhile I haven't bought anything in quite a few moons! I'm getting close though and hope to be at least visiting some flea markets or something in the near future! Neanwhile I will just have to get my "thrill of the hunt" vicariously through all of you. Thanks for the memories!

i am jealous. it rained here yesterday so no yard sales for me. however, two weekends ago, when attended a 90-mile yardsale here in georgia. we only made it through 70 miles. but that is pretty good, no? here is a link to my favorite find that weekend...

It is such a treat to hear about everyone's thrifting adventures, and I think it's great that we can take such pleasure in our bargain shopping. I notice also that almost everyone almost always mentions several things they purchased for someone else. I had a great time today going to a couple of sales. I got some sewing notions = 6 old packages of rick rack for 15 cents, a hand crocheted baby blanket that I'm going to give my friend Beth to add to her collection of snuggle blankets for her grandchildren (I don't have any!). I got a nice old chopping block for my son who has recently moved to an apartment with friends. That one was 10 cents. It was so much fun, and I got to the grange twenty minutes before they were going to pack everything away. They were so nice, told me to take my time, half the fun is just looking....good job, girls.....Karin

Ahhh, Yard Sales, thrifting, antiquing! There's nothing like getting up early in the morning, throwning on some serious treasure hunting clothes, grabbing some snacks and gear, and heading out to see what kind of treasures I can find! It's a passion of mine.

My dh took me to lunch today and we hit 3 yard sales. For $23 I got 6 dozen qt canning jars, 4 tupperware cups, a little decorative tea pot shaped like a old singer sewing machine with a quilt being sewn, a pink pyrex dish and lid (the kind that is split in half), several vintage jars and salt shakers, and a vintage small suitcase. I am very excited about my finds!

Sounds like you had fun Susie! I also hit the yard sales and thrift today and did quite well myself. I got a nice big bookshelf for 4.00. I was quite surprised at the price so I snatched it up in a hurry. Also got one of those Leap Pad things the kids use, brand new for 2.00.
Purchased a small stool for 1.00 and two real nice country prints 9x11 for 1.00 each. Of course I love the thrift and got two skeins of crochet thread, one is varigated yellow and the other red, white and blue. And I found the neatest wooden box and when I slid the lid open there were 3 beautiful cobalt blue vases in there. They match some others that my mom gave me from my grandmother. Oh and we hit the flea market too. Found a cute lamp for 1.00 some figurines and Beatrix Potter books.
All in all I considered it a very good day. My daughter picked up a few things and she found a great old rocker. Really nice condition for 9.00 I think it's actually antique but not sure.
