I got the most wonderful HUGE book about Grandma Moses and her paintings. I love her folk art style of painting .. can hardly wait to read more of her life.

i believe grandma started painting 'seriously' in her 70's .. i believe the book says she lived to 101.

I love many different styles..but one of my favorites is the work of Wm.Bouguereau
like this:
http://www.appletonmuseum.org/images/collection/w_bouguereau.jpg
I have actually seen the original of this painting at the Appleton in Ocala, FL and it is absolutely breathtaking. Some of the painting are painted in such a way that if you walk past them..the eyes "follow" you...ha
But to me..this artwork is just phenomenal.
I do enjoy some folk art style work..and the work of Grandma Moses and Will Moses are both nice styles.

Yes, I love her. I think she started painting in her 80's or was she lived that long. Can't remember. Always adore her paintings.

I went to the Bennington museum also. My husband and I loved it. I have a Grandma Moses calendar from Lang hanging in my living room right now. I can hardly wait to see what the next month brings. But, seeing the actual work in person and seeing where she sat to do her drawings was a real delight.

Here's another Fan!!! Love Grandma Moses art work! We traveled through Vermont several years ago and visited the Bennington Museum .... it is the Museum that houses the largest collection of her work in the country! We loved it! We are going to the Folk Art Festival in Santa Fe, July 12th and 13th. It won't have any Grandma Moses work ofcourse but it will have Folk Art from 100 juried artists from 39 different countries. Love Folk Art!!!

I love Grandma Moses. My students always get a kick out of her name. I love folk art. I also love the "Hudson River School" Artists like Thomas Cole. I did my graduate dissertation on him. I am also a fan of Ansel Adams. I love all art, but especially American Artists.
