i find that i don't have the PASSION for lots of antiques like i used to ... (ha! probably because my pennies are going toward 'children's treasures'! ... but, today, i hit a local antiques shoppe and found 14 older dolly stands .. i've really been looking for these cuz' i love to stand my dollies up fromtime to time!

got a couple books .. one for wednesday on Unforgettable Women of the Century ... anda mos'wunnerful one for me on folk art children and their toys and necessaries.

also found a corn shucker (the kind you wear on your hand) and a 'corn cutting knife' and a fantastic and huge old frying pan ,.. these are for our historic log cabin in town that i've decorated.

oh .. and a basket for wednesday.

also did some fun 'handywoman' chores today ... the dining room chairs 'scraped' across the floor and were hard to move.. i found some 'sliders' and put them on the feet so the chairs now GLIDE across the floor effortlessly!!! oh Yay~~~~ also hung up a hook rack (lovin' my new battery operated modern drill/screwdriver!

tomorrow i tackle the new curtain rods! in my 'organization craze' i'm on .. i also cleared their hall closet of 'winter' coats, hats, gloves, scarves .. and hopefully in the next two weeks that i'm here .. every closet and cupboard ... and drawer will be organized! i'm actually really enjoying all this .. but can hardly wait to get back home to honey hunk and all my kentucky friends too!

Jeannie, not sure what our next project is at this point but last year we junked of course and even went to a metal scrap yard and then came home and made rustic yard angels out of a log and tin from old roofs that we got at the scrap yard. She's supposed to come down July 2nd but the roads and everything are so bad in Iowa I'm not sure she can find her way out! My biggest problem is that I like furniture and that takes up a little more room than say collecting glassware or anything. I just can't resist a good buy on a piece of furniture! But some of it needs painting or refinishing and of course I don't always get around to that part.
But there is definitely a "thrill of the hunt" in there somewhere! That green wood end table that your daughter got had me drooling!

Sandra, I loved reading about you and your daugther! No need to say sorry! You sound so close....what a gift. So glad I have a daughter, too. What is your next project? Julia and I love to go junkin too, and there are about 4 places here that we hit every 3 or 4 months. We have found the best stuff! She got a green wood end table last time and we bargained it down to half the price, and it looks great in her guest bedroom. Love to junk!

Sandra, I was actually meaning Frannie, but it looks like both of you have daughters that love the help! Minbe does, too, I think, or else she is good at pretending!

Sha and I are like 2 peas in a pod thank goodness or she wouldn't! AND we're both packrats so we understand that ANY type of organizing by ANYONE is a good thing! We'll both take all the help we can get! When she comes down here to visit we always plan some kind of project to work on....it keeps us from more shopping.....for awhile anyway and then we go Junkin' again!

It is good that your daughter is okay with all the organizing. When my mom did that it drove me nuts. But Julia lets me clean around her house all the time and seems to like it! Thank goodness the daughters appreciate help!

Frannie....after you go home and rest up, could you come down to AR and give me a hand gettin' all organized like you did up in Ohio? PLEEEEZZZZZZZ???? LOL!
I am hoping to help my daughter out too when I go up north next month...the new baby has her befuddled....she just keeps mumbling "how did you do it, Mom"...and ya know....I don't really have an answer for her....I think I blocked it all out of my mind, just kidding but I sure couldn't do it anymore...my get up and go got up and went and I am as slow as molasses anymore.
Take care Frannie and thanks for sharing...I love to hear all y'all's stories and adventures.
(OH..I'm gettin' good and Southern....did you notice that "all y'all" I slipped in there? Not bad for a farmgirl from the midwest! But I swear I WAS Southern in my last life!)
