I'm in need of a new hat to wear when I'm out roaming the fields and checking on the fences.

What is your favorite type of hat to wear when out doing your farmgirl chores?

Donna, I'll have to ask Rose as she gave it to me for Christmas one year. Actually, she gave me two. One is white with tiny blue flowers on it and the other is a burgundy/dark yellow plaid. I think she found them at an on-line store. I'll let you know.

You all have given me wonderful ideas for farm hats. I was going to shop for just one, but now I think I might need a collection.

Lisa where did you get the bonnet? I might have to have one of those also.

I have a few straw hats, usually I put a flower on them beecause I'm old, I can get away with it. I love hats. I got two wonderful vintage black hats at my favorite junkstore yesterday, of course i won't be able to wear them until November, but it is always good to have an extra hat or two...or three....Karin

I usually wear a do-rag to catch sweat and for daubbing. When it's really hot, i'll wear the bandana and big floppy straw hat.

After last year's cancer on my nose, I don't mess around any more.

Sue....You asked about my role on Movie Sets.....I am a Studio Teacher/Welfare Worker for the Movie Industry.....I wear two "Hats" at work. I tutor kids who are in movies or in TV Shows, with their classroom academics and when I am not tutoring I am the person on Set who looks out for the childrens best interest, ie. >>>>>>>>> are they being treated well on and off Set....are they working more hours then the law allows.....are they eating properly (lots of kids would eat candy bars all day if someone didn't suggest some healthier foods) .... the Production Company's DO provide wonderful, healthy snacks all day but some kids just ignore the healthy ones if they can. That is sort of my job description in a nutshell ................ Sooooooo, I am called a Studio Teacher/Welfare Worker. Every set that has children under 18 has a Studio Teacher present whether parents are there or not (we are required by law). It is a Fun Job however, more often then not, we are in the sun ALOT!!!! Lots of movie locations are outside in the heat of the day and days are long so hats on ones head is definately a necesity. New Mexico is now one of the top places for the Movie Industry next to California!!

I have a nice wide brimmed straw hat that was made in Australia (and I found for a STEAL at a thrift) that I wear, especially in the weather we've been having, but I also wear my trusty bandanna like a russian housewife, too :)

I have several that I wear. On weekends, I wear a wide brimmed straw hat when I know I'm going to be out in the sun all day. Early morning and evenings, I usually wear a baseball cap that says "a little dirt never hurt" on the brim (it's my favorite). If I'm out in the garden during my lunch hour on weekdays, I have a prairie bonnet that I wear because it doesn't give me "hat hair" and I can go back to work without any fuss.

I have a straw cowboy (girl?) hat I wear when I'm in Montana. It's one of those that you can bend and shape to fit your head and your mood. I love it and the neighbor makes fun of it!

Donna,

I love hats soooo >>>>>>>> I have quite a few, but I wear different hats depending on my mood! As long as it keeps the sun off of your face, I don't think you can go wrong! When I work on Movie Sets in the heat on long days I wish I could wear bigger brims but it would sort of be in the way of all the comings and goings so I usually wear a modish style one with a baseball style brim. If I am working out in my gardens I usually wear a big straw one. I think I enjoy hats and having fun with them as much as I enjoy my different aprons!!! Well......Ok Almost as much!!!

Audrey
