How funny - it does look as though that photo was taken on the floor of your sunroom! Can you tell if the picture originates to Louisville? Wouldn't that be amazing?

The house was in Henry Co. which is not where we would want to land permanently, but would be great for a 2nd home. I'm sure that we will find a short term rental to start - just so that we have a better feel for the area.

I have everything lined up on the MI end so that we could be in KY starting 6/23, however, when my man was discussing his "start date" with his future employer, the response was that they want to give our house a couple more weekends on the market here before offering the apt. that they have there. I'm living life in limbo for the short term. It is interesting to be in this position - poised to make a change, yet so happy with where we are.

Hi, Ann. Where was the house? Are you looking for a little acreage along with a house? Are you still coming here for the summer? Here's the pit bull photo I bought at the flea market:

We bought a lot of neat stuff, but this is my favorite. It's really large(it's sitting on the floor in my sunroom), which is unusual for such an old photograph of a dog. And he does look like my white pitbull/boxer mix.

Hey there,

Sorry for the delayed response! Kids, school, garden, etc...

We really enjoyed our visit, exploring, and meeting a friend of a friend while in Louisville. We did look at a great house that was in foreclosure. We weren't able to go in because someone had just put an offer in on it 4 days earlier. Peeking in the windows and walking around, my husband said that it would have worked for what we needed if our MI house doesn't sell. Boo-hoo that we didn't take the trip the weekend earlier as I'd hoped. Oh well. What is meant to be will be.

It did have 4 bedrooms, 2 fireplaces, hard wood floors throughout, heavy molding, tall ceilings, wrap around porch, charm, charm, charm... and needed lots of work. I just pictured it being featured in a magazine. There wasn't room for our minis though. Ahhh, again, what is meant to be will be.

Lynn's is great fun! So glad you got to see some highlights of Louisville, Ann! What did you think about the city and the neighborhoods? I just can't get enough of it...like I said, it makes coming back to No. Kentucky a real burden!!!!

I agree, Janice, that your lamp should have won. It was indeed, ugly, and I mean that in the kindest way possible :) I think the bag of stuff I got was fancy work, but I really just wanted the one souvenir WWII hankie in the bottom!!! For a $1.50, a whole bag was worth that ten times over!

Janice is right...there were SO many more places to go!!! Next time, we'll make it a concentrated effort--I mean, afterall, at the three we went to, we maybe averaged $4.00 a place with several items a piece??? Stellar shopping!

Lynn's is the GREATEST! I still think my ugly lamp entrant for her contest in the State Fair last year should have gotten SOMEthing! :D

We bought all kinds of fun stuff last Saturday, for sure. Jonni got a cute skirt, a pretty Brighton earring holder, a bag of old lace(was it lace or fancy work?)and lots of other stuff I can't remember. We should post pics. I picked up an armload of Victoria magazines and two small bags of fancy work, embroidered napkins, etc.
We didn't even scratch the surface of thrifting. It would take about a week of concentrated, full day effort(lunch included-LOL)!

What a gorgeous B&B! It sounds as though you had a wonderful time.

Well, I was thinking of you both throughout the weekend, because Tony, the girls and I ended up going to visit last weekend rather than over Memorial Day weekend. We had lunch at the Uptown Cafe and dinner at Lynn's Paradise Cafe. While exploring the area, you and Janice would pop into my mind everytime we passed a vintage, thrift or antique store.

Oh my!!!! Janice is the thrift queen!!! We started out at a flea market right off the exit where Justin went to his modelling convention, and she bought the most FABULOUS old photo of a pit bull (that looks like her Stinky), and then we went to an antique mall across the street where I found a wonderful print done by a wildlife artist, Richard Gee, of 4 baby cottontail rabbits. They reminded me of the two that we saved last summer. The print was signed and numbered, and turns out, the print alone now is selling for $195.00!!! I paid $50.00, nicely framed also. Then we went on the thrifting extravaganza and got ten kinds of cool things! Janice got an awesome "Creamtex" lard tin that's about hip high for $10.00 (or less, they were discounting things), and I picked up just loads of whatever. Nice violet pot made in England, with pretty little violets all around, a pair of COOL pj's that still had the tags on them for $2.00 that were decorated with cherries, cherry pies and blue birds (cute!!!), and other cool finds. The thrifts in Louisville rock!!!

We could have done more, more, more if I didn't have 7:30 reservations for dinner with Justin. The b&b we staying http://www.rockinghorse-bb.com/default.htm was absolutey wonderful and when I arrived, Justin had a bottle of wine waiting and had already taken advantage of the claw foot tub! We had a fabulous dinner at Lilly's (where I got the God Bless our Local Farmers plate--YUM) and finished off the dinner with a petite creme brulee.

It was such a wonderful weekend, it was sure hard to come back to mean old Northern Kentucky.
