Yeah!!! I found a CSA in my town!! Today I pick up my box of organic goodies for just 18 dollars a week! I'm going to make my menus out of what I get!!!!

I found it thru http://www.localharvest.org

I found that thru Barbara Kingsolver's Animal,Vegtable Miracle site!!! Fun!!!

I noticed that we are just now starting to get some little local home grown produce markets up & selling...I am going to try & commit to the "Buy local" (w/in 150miles) for all our produce/dairy needs. No more large markets that buy unripen veggies/fruit and ship 1000 miles....We also have a large Heutterite community here(like Amish/Mennonite) and they sell their freah baked goods & veggies at our little farmers market(tho they don't actually sell, they have an "English" watch their little booth)I am also keeping my fingers crossed that my little garden will suffice for hubby & I and I plan to veggie swap w/my neihbors...why grow beets when I can swap squash for beets etc...I am going to stick Maryjane's bumper sticker to my forehead to help me stay on tract! lol!

I love Local Harvest for finding food nearby. Through the site, i discovered that I can purchase a side of beef from a farm 4 miles away from my house. How's that for close?! There is also a CSA about 5 miles in the other direction, but I think they are a bit pricey. $800 for the summer. I may do the fruit only next year. It's just $200.
I'm glad you found one close to you, Debi! Be sure to share your recipes. :)
