Hey Frannie!

It's pretty much half & half on appliances working. If they are working, most only warm up water for the morning. Most cooking is done outside but with most gatherings, you are together for dinner and most times we take turns cooking in teams or it is cartered. We know how to have fun!

Potty time...most of us just have the bucket with a toilet seat on it! Lined twice with little trash bags & a "Depend" or two added! I only use mine at night because most times, we are staying where there are showers & toilets. Dry camping, we just use our porta potties, or buckets! I am a real girly-girl and thought "I would never, ever" use a bucket! Never say Never! The simple pressures are wonderful when you are camping! Sitting on ones own pot in your very own little trailer, looking up and seeing thousands of stars through your ceiling vent, honsetly is a pure delight!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO!

If you join now before buying a trailer, you aren't missing out of some fun! Some SOTF that live within hours from each other get-together for lunch & shopping...we call it a "sister fix"! Those are always fun! Also, some want to go to a event but it is to far to tow your trailer and "tent" it! I will be doing that when I go to Bend, Oregon next spring. There is NO way I would miss that trip, even if I sleep out in the open under the stars! It's not just for the trailers you join, it's for the experiences you have with fellow SOTF! Fly fishing, cowgirl fun, shopping or sitting around a campfire crocheting! Like I said before, I joined before I had a trailer and thrilled that I did. I would say that half do not even own a trailer! Anyhoo, hope that answers your question Frannie!!!

To fun! xo

Maryjane Lee

maryjane .. do most of the girls that you've met have WORKING kitchen appliances in their trailers? or do some of them do most of their 'cooking' outside their trailer? how about the bathroom? it is 'flushable' .. or do they use 'chamber pots'? we had a HUGE winnebago .. and i seem to remember that 'bathroom' thing being a lotta' work to empty out!

i want to join .. but i want to make sure that i find the 'trailer of my dreams' first. any advantage that you see of joining before having your trailer? xo

Maryjane .. if i join SOTF .. will i have access to contact other 'sisters' .. that might want to 'gather'??

IF you hear of one in real good condition .. pleeeeeeeeeeeze let me know. i really don't want to have to have it 'worked on' if the 'guts of it' isn't in great shape. that may take me a little longer. it would be do-able .. but i have so many, many other things i want to do too .. and i jus' wanna' HIT THE ROAD!! (the decoratin' part i would LOVE though!).

do i just contact SOTF to join them? xo

Thanks a bunch, Maryjane. You answered my question(s). And please do post more pics. My bff Susan has a cute teardrop camper her dh has been working on. This morning, I sent her your blog address so she can be inspired, too! :) Yes, I saw the SOTF pages in the new MJ book! I still have the Country Living mag with you guys in it, too! In fact, that's what inspired Susan to buy her camper in the first place. ;) She shows horses sometimes and she wanted something cool to haul behind her dually.

Hey Farmgirls! I still have a few more pics of trialers if you are interested I can post on my blog! Took some of Becky's (co-founder of SOTF) when I was in McCall!

Frannie, yes, that was the Sisters on the Fly that your read about! Most likely in Country Living! Been in tons of magazines, press and the Travel Channel. There are over 1,000 members now from ALL over the US! Thanks for the sweet words about my blog. I sure have fun with it!

Janice, most of the gals paint their own trailers and most have brush strokes in them. It is pretty even on brush or rolling on the base coat with the sisters but there are some that have it painted at a car paint shop which always turns out really pretty. Seems the gals that even have the $$$ roll it on. Most of the the murals are handpainted but several have put on decals. My "God Bless Cowgirls" is a decal and the back of my trailer has a huge "Sisters on the Fly" decal. The decals will last a long time. Anyhoo, hope that helped ya a little. On our private Message Board, we have a whole section that we talk about everything you can imagine about trailers, featherbeds, potties, tires, repairs, fly fishing, riding horses, to paint! Join up...it is only $40.00 a year and ya get a patch to that I added to my denim jacket! Like we are doing with our cute MaryJane's Farm patches! Did you know MaryJane's new book "MaryJane's Outpost" featured Sisters on the fly?! Page 138 To fun!

Maryjane - Shianne asked about who does the painting. Do the girls do it themselves? I'm trying to decide how to proceed with my old tin can. I see brush strokes in the primer coat and I don't want that in the finish coat. Someone suggested a fat roller cover and feathering in with a small brush. Do you have any other suggestions/opinions?

Ann - HOORAY for you guys!!!! Really looking forward to pics! :D Missed you at Wilma's. It was better than G R E A T!

Maryjane,

I'll have to have to measure it tomorrow and take some photos. I'm guessing it is about 14 ft. Last night my kids just keep repeating how they couldn't believe that we bought it. They are so excited. Tony and I have been talking throughout the day about how to personalize it.

My pumpkins just came in from catching fireflys. Time to go tuck them in. (They were tucked in once already). Isn't summer great!

Your blog is so much fun by the way. Love your front porch and you have such a beautiful family!

Guess what we found at a garage sale... A 1963 Winnebago trailer. I saw the trailer before I ever saw any of the photos on your blog - just told my husband about the cute camper that was priced right. Mary Jane, you have inspired me! We were up until after 1am this morning looking online at your photos and the photos for the sisters on the fly - what fun. By the time we we done, he said that he thought it was a great idea and really wanted one (at this garage sale price) so we agreed to see if the one that I saw on Thurs. was still available. This morning we ventured over to the sale and were excited to see the trailer still there - but the sign was gone. The family had accepted a deposit last night, and the new owner was going to be there in about 1 hour to claim his purchase. We left our names and number in case the man had buyer's remorse.

We drove around bummin' a bit over our loss, stopping at a few garage sales, and checking out some of the lakes in the area. Then, not meaning to be a pest, we drove back to where the trailer was. Spoke to the owners a bit. Asked more questions about it, etc. While chatting, the new owner drove up, my husband asked if he was willing to sell yet, offered him $50.00 more than the original asking price, and we made the deal. We have the title, drove it home and now are thinking of a theme.

My son wants to sleep in it tonight.

We were going to be in KY at Miss Wilma's orchard sale this weekend - sleeping in a tent in her yard :). Tony's work kept him in MI for now, so we had a different adventure this weekend. Tomorrow we are off to the Cherry Festival in Traverse City, MI. Perhaps this mini winni could be a cherry bomb!

Hi Erin!

We find our little trailers all over the country! Most from driving around and seeing one in someones backyard!!! I live in CA and found mine in Idaho. Had her "trucked" down! My pics are further down on my blog. Some come refurbished and some put a year or more into them. Some of us started collecting things for our trailers before we bought them! Once you have a theme, there is no stopping!!!! What a hoot and tons of fun!
