Posted - May 04 2008 : 08:35:09 AM And set up my new washing machine???? LOL!!!!!:D
Bought it yesterday at a Salvation Army store in Indiana. My dh almost ran away from home at the sight of it. I've wanted one for a long time. Wonder if I can get a manual somewhere online? When I checked it over and saw it has very little rust inside or outside, I tore off the price tag, pulled the money out of my jeans pocket and marched over to the guy at the counter and said: "I want this washing machine!". Boy, is it HEAVY! And hard to load on the truck(dh still not happy)! It was made in 1953. After we got it off the truck, I spent the remaining daylight hours cleaning it. I was almost as excited as when I used to wash and wax my old muscle car in the driveway(1966 SS Chevelle)! The inside is in very good shape, too! I'm so excited! I hope it works, because I want to use it. My Grandma had one like this and I can still remember how steamy it got in her basement on washday! :D

Posted - May 04 2008 : 10:18:54 AM That's awesome Janice! Aw- He will either like it or forget about it once it doesn't have to be moved around any more. At least that is how Doug is. He grouses about things until his involvement is done and then he doesn't care- as long as I am happy. Silly guys!

Posted - May 04 2008 : 09:48:40 AM I'm afraid to tell him you like it, because he just might haul it to Burlington and GIVE it to you! HAHAHAHA!!!!!:D I'm so proud of it I don't know what to do with myself. We took the wringer arm off yesterday, but we had to try to get it on the truck so it would stand up and the oil wouldn't leak out. That was hard to do.

Posted - May 04 2008 : 09:39:54 AM Janice, Look at you a proud owner of a Maytag wringer!! We had one like that when I lived on the farm, Grandma did her wash on the side porch then hung the clothes right on a pulley clothesline that ran right off the porch over the field. Women must seem like a pretty strange breed to men, when we get excited over an old washing machine. NANCY JO
