First, I would like to come and swim....

Second, we want to put a larger than normal pool in when we get our little house. Yes, the pool will probably be larger than the house itself, but we are swimmers and want a good lap pool, area for relaxing, etc. What size is a "good" size for this? I am just trying to get some ideas. I know it is $$$$$ but I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY love to swim.

Cheers,
Heather

I am an absolute water person and here in Texas, we are already swimming. Plus, we like to entertain. So I think we will go for it. Thanks for the input!!!

Cheers,
Heather

We are just having an inground pool put in this year. Ours is 22x42 and 8 1/2 feet deep, cement and tile. It is almost finished being installed. Hopefully swimming by mother's day. I have no idea how much yours would cost for "lap swimming" you would probably want it to be longer than ours, it has cost us upwards of $70,000 to put in. I don't know about your area though, it may be cheaper. Our kids (all but the 4 year old)are on swim team (all year around) so we thought it was time to put it in plus it will keep them off of the playstation during the summer months when school is out.

we had a pool at Crooked Tree Hollow .. i am NOT a 'water person' .. and i probably only got in it about twice a year! hank, however, would row his 'shell' everymorning on the river for an hour .. then take a swim .. and the 'grands' adored it. it's fun to have when family and friends come over too.

we have a 'crick' here in the hollow! xo

if you are a water person .. go for it!! xo

Heather, we LOVE LOVE LOVE our swimming pool! It is an older in-ground pool that is "L" shaped. It is 9 feet deep in the deep end and about 3 1/2 ft deep in the shallow part. It has a diving board and holds something like 50,000 gallons of water...don't quote me but it is some unGodly amount. It was already here when we bought our farm. It is gas heated too. We get to use our pool for a good 5 months of the year and for that time we are constantly in it. It is such an incredible thing to have right outside one's back door. It is high maintenance but this is something my husband thoroughly enjoys doing himself. We are in the process of having a new liner installed, which is pricey but should be totally worth it. You'll be able to enjoy your pool for a lot longer than us so I would say GO FOR IT!! Golly, there are so many options out there now and you can cover your pool with a liner at the touch of a button. Pools are amazing these days. Yep, they are costly, but if you're going to use the heck out of it as I'm sure you will it is totally worth it! Enjoy! ~julia hayes
