I'm looking for some suggestions on how to package homemade laundry soap. My sister and I are looking into doing some local craft type shows to sell laundry soap and a few other bath type goodies that we make. We've got some fun ideas on packaging the bath things but not really any on the laundry soap. I think it's because it's harder with the laundry soap because it can seep through cracks and fabric easier than the other stuff we're doing. Anyone have any ideas they'd like to share? I'd especially like to have something that's envrionmentally friendly if it's possible.

the muslin packaging that I did use lets a fine powder out of the sack-so while it was great, it 'leaked' the only way I could think of it not leaking is lining it with a plastic bag-and that isn't very friendly. kwim?

oh and I give them a discount after their initial purchase for each time they bring their laundry jar back to me for a refill. I had to raise my price to cover the jars (only .50) so I discount to 9.50 for each refill, 9.00 if they reuse the jar AND the scoop I provide. It has been great this way and I am super pleased with it!

Elizabeth, I use the wide mouth quart jars as it's really theonly eco friendly method I've found to package mine. I have yet to have a person complain that it isn't easy to use!

Elizabeth- You could do a plastic bag that closes off inside another container like a box or a pretty sack. If you have a vac-u-seal type machine you can seal all sorts of plastic/celophane with it! :D

Yeah, it's powder. I was thinking about canning jars but I don't think the mouth of the jar is wide enough for most people to get their hand in. Thank you for the suggestion though!
