How cool is this?

I remember reading about this dance troupe years ago (how's 1989 grab ya?) in Victoria Magazine, and I was, at the time, studying at Interlochen...and I COULD NOT BELIEVE that this Vintage Dance Troupe was in my hometown. And best of all, they still are!!!! I'm going to see about taking classes on Wednesday evenings and maybe, possibly, eventually, I might get to be in the troupe!!! I would so love to perform again in some capacity, and the Regency period dances and waltzes from Early Victorian era would be RIGHT up my alley!
Now, if I just had a man who could dance!!!! Maybe they'll have an extra lying about that I can borrow for a partner!

You got it, girl! It's a date! You know, when I was dancing, my partner was from Texas, Ft. Worth to be exact, and he was the most chauvinistic masculine man I've ever met. We were on tour in Chicago and some hooligan in the hotel lobby said while looking at all the dancers (both male and female)..."those dudes are f**gs!" and then laughed that oh-so-intelligent 18 year old boy laugh...my partner said, "dude, I get to touch these girls in places you could only dream of and it's my JOB!" Needless to say, "dude" was speechless :)

Got one here too Jonni. Will not watch any skating or dance w/me. I get so p'd off & tell him that those guys are in way better shape than his bulked out football players (him included) & that they are also more flexible which means more positions (wink wink)
Next time you want to go to the ballet, let me know. Jim & Jus can sit at home, watch hockey & scratch themselves. |

How very true! We went to see Le Sonambula (a George Balanchine ballet--THE most masculine choreographer/dancer of his time) and as soon as the male dancer comes on stage, chasing the sleep walker, Justin started getting all fidgety, rocking his legs back and forth. Then, the next piece was a premier by a guest artist from the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater in NYC. I can't recall his name, but he was this BUILT, LEGS LIKE CEMENT BLOCKS african american man, who probably stood about 6 foot 2 and he was SOOOOO powerful and SOOOO commanding, and Justin just went all weird and crinkled up his nose, so he left and went out to the bar in the lobby!!! Now, I know not every man digs the ballet, but how could you deny that this guy on stage was ANYTHING but masculine!?!?

Ha! Snort!!! If only, Alee....he's one of those "too cool for school" guys who don't dance!!!
Like it's a personal affront to his masculinity or something...you should see how uncomfortable he gets at the ballet!
