I was at the thrift again because my friend didn't want to go alone. But being the nice person that I'm, I forced myself to go. Got some good stuff as usual. NOW, the weekend is coming I will not be going for a few days. I think I said that yesterday. Well this time I mean it.

Your head vases are collectable and if you search them out on ebay you will see some fetch a pretty penny - you can click on the left hand column for finished items to get a rough idea.
Maybe a trip to Goodwill would cheer me today - weekends are usually mobbed though - and weekdays too. Nancy Jo, you just have a knack for it dear

Thrifting is such an education. I didn't know that was a courting candle. Thankyou Denise and Lea. I better not light it Richard might get crazy. HA.
MB,no you don't have to send up an entire set of dishes, its
the thought that counts.Yes the bird soap dish was thrift, and I bought the little star candle thing at the thrift because it seemed to match my other star thing. I didn't know you liked star things. Must remember that.

Golly Nancy Jo you did splendid. Remind me not to go and maybe I will. I LOVE that birdie soap dish. Was that at the thrift? You know me and stars--does that one go with the candle or did you just set it there? You door swag is beautiful. The flag makes it perfect. Those dishes you like--well at the second hand store I was at earlier there was a whole entire set of them. Salt and pepper, gravy boat, huge platter, pitchers, plus the regular stuff. It filled a whole bookcase. I didn't get a price except the bowls were 2.00 each. I would box them up and send them to you but...........MB

You find the best stuff! Whenever I go I can never find anything like that. It might be that I've been on the weekend and the good stuff is already gone. I might have to run a long errand for work next week and check things out.

NancyJo,
My mom used to have a pair of those planters and the candle is called a courting candle. When the young man would come to court, the father would set the candle where he wanted it. if he didn't care for the young man he would set it so it burned to the line quickly and when it reached that point the young man knew it was time to go. and vice versa if he liked the young man who was courting his daughter.
