Couple of days ago I had a repairman(Gene) come to look at my fairly new dishwasher which wasn't working right. He said nothing was broken just some gunk had clogged one of the arms that spin. He cleaned it out and said it should be fine. I just got a call from him and he was asking how the dishwasher was working. I told him I hadn't had a full load yet so I haven't run it.How sweet was that to call and see if his repair worked. JoAnn

There is something irreplaceable about a small town. The evidence is when something wonderful happens to a family or sadly, a tragedy. To this day I can hear my Mother, say, "Now, who are your people?" You see my Mom know "their people and their people's people back generations. They are a rare breed, small towns, but I miss my samll town and love to go visit.

I tell my friends in this small city, When I want to feel loved and missed, I just take a 35 minute ride to my origianl home and I am slam dunked in love .

My Mother's funeral was a wonderful celebration of her life. she was 94 years young and was a character. I wish I could truthfully tell you how many people came by the funeral home and had a story about my Mom. We laughed, cried, told stories then went home to a groaning tabel of food,. We could have fed any army in the area.

thank you for this topic. It has warmed my heart remembering.....

Aw, that is sweet and that is WHY I love small towns and people that genuinely care. I have become more open about me doing such things. I used to feel bad cause people would ridicule! Too bad I'm outta the closet for my kind heart and caring. hehe

I've have learned that it doesn't hurt to be pleasant, respectful and charming to people. Maybe it was the hair rinse I just put in : ) Having said that when my adult son was visiting he asked what my chatroom name was. I said "Mountain girl" he said Mom you ain't no girl : ) I sent him to the corner: ) JoAnn

I love living in a small town where you can walk down the street and wave at people in cars and get a friendly wave back- or where the local pharmacist knows your name and remembers to check your medications for complications. This type of service actually saved my mom's life once!

JoAnn,

That man sounds like a jewel! Yes, it's hard to find people like that anymore. Now that's what I call personal and professional service.
