I blogged about my husband restoring (well, getting it to run again) a Ford 5000.

What year was this one made though?

No full-on restoration for this tractor. I didn't really want to make this "public" on my blog, but my FIL is pretty upset that we aren't discing as much land this year (we bought a no-till drill). Discing is his job and at 76, he's afraid he doesn't have but so many tractor rides left. So Keith got this one going again to give him something to cruise around on. As long as it runs, he doesn't care if it isn't pretty. :)

The 5000's were produced from 1965-1976 according to TractorData.com.

Restoring ford tractor. Michele I made a mistake, ours was a 4000 & bought it in 1974 for $7,200 brand new. My husband said he thought they came out with the 3000,4000 & 5000 around the 1970s.

Is he going to repaint it and such? If so it could become a very cool piece of functional "Lawn Art" I can just imagine someday I am going to have a farm house and in my front lawn I will have some beautifully restored antique tractors :D

That looks alot like my dad's tractor. His is a 4000. My dad's looks in alot better shape though! I am trying to remember when he bought his, brand new, either 74 or 76. Hope your man got her running.

Nifty tractor, Jennifer. Our pal Mike spent last winter restoring an old Ford 8N. He was surprised that he found all the info he needed on the internet. He even dated it by the serial number. I bet you could find out the age that way.
