Ok ladies I have chosen partners...hope they work. Sorry I had to weight (pun) to find out what goals we all had. Just by fate a few didn't match up perfectly but ce la vie.

Willowtreecreek & Melissa Ann you have the same goal
Joyfulmama & Lainey you have about the same goals
Bohemiangel & KYgurlsbest we are sorta on the same page my goal was less but eh I could go for more hehe
Mumof3 & Corporatefarmgirl you two have similar goals
Yiberryyadeekarn & Tina Michelle you two are on the same page
Alee & Prosserfarmgirl same page
Createmyworld & Plumcreekmama you two are slightly different for goals but will do well with eachother!!

OK GIRLIES HAVE FUN! I'll start a new thread for us xxoo

Ok I'm asking that all of us that want to lose weight or at least get physically fit in whatever way diet and exercise let's all pair up! We can post here about it or well the health section if the mod would rather. I just thought it could be more fun with a large group but paired up to have more individual attention. Any takers? I loved all the advice and support on my post. I want to have an ongoing thread to talk about this issue and our ups and downs.

well chilluns .. while i'm not doin' the 'buddy' thingie .. i'm checkin' in to see how everyone is doing! i guess with this new 'insulin pump' .. i'll be behavin' a little better in my food choices! xo

by the way .. at class yesterday, our nutritionist said that the ATKINS diet is very dangerous for diabetics (i don't think she is really a fan of it at all). if you've been succesful on it .. GREAT .. but if you are fanatical about it .. keep a watch on your kidneys with all that protein! xo

Hey Alee, I am sorry, I have been a little slow finding this thread.... OK.. so I have been increasing the water.. and for the last 2 days I have been eating "raw".. kinda kick starting myself and breaking old habits....I am not sure if you are familiar with Jordan Rubin - he teaches a meditteranean type diet plan... using grass fed orgainc meats and raw milk ( cheeses), but a lot of raw fruits and veggies.... I feel best when I am following this plan and it is easy for me to cook for my family.. So.. I have also dragged the bike out and parked the mini van... and my dog (Kianni) reminds me to walk him daily... so far that is the plan...... how are you doing?... Oh I almost forgot , I got out the body ball... I am getting old so staying limber is well.. challenging but important....

Hey Girls,
I'm not sure how I missed it but I just saw this thread. If you have any stragglers coming in that want to pair up, I'm game.
I'm 48, menopausal and a holistic gal to boot. I'd love to pair up wqith someone who has some similar issues as me.
I'm hoping to lose 25-30 lbs.

I started this morning off with steel cut oats, skim milk and a little honey. Since I am working from home today I thought why not start today. Instead of DIETING I am going for a healthy, livable change.

1. Lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains
2. Water - Goal today is 8 glasses. This should help fill me up and cleanse out the toxins
3. NO WHITE ANYTHING - Flour, sugar, pasta - Just whole grains
4. Fish or poultry 2-3 x a week will be allowed mainly whole grains and veggies
5. Organic and local if possible
6. At the end of the week I will order some MJ food stuff for quick fix.
7. One glass of wine a day just because it is good for you .

This came about because on the Today show they were saying Americans now rank 42nd in life expectancy for the world and the life expectancy for American women is DROPPING. No one bothered to study why because they did not expect to find out this. Personally I believe it is a combination of an unhealthy diet, pollutants in our bodies and the stressful lives we lead. What I am doing is taking some of the healthiest diets in the world and incorporating them into MY LIFECHANGE DIET and Mind MAKEOVER - How do you like that one. Healthy, organic, local ( to help preserve vitamins)food. No fast fix anything ( except MJ's organic) and stress relieving walks during my lunch time. Time to get healthy!

I like the idea of this support group. I know that you probably don't think 30 lbs is much (and frankly, I don't know that I can even get that much off--I've tried very hard in the last year and it seems like 139 is where my body wants to be--but I'd like to give it a shot, but I hope that I can have a partner. I used to attend weight watchers with my friend who had about 120 lbs. to lose and even though she lost weight faster than I did (rats!) it was very helpful to have someone to attend the meetings with and to help me understand all their pesky pamphlets :)

count me in ladies! I need to lose around 70lbs. I like the idea of a group effort. That way we are all inspiring each other.

For me the hardest part is combining healthy and easy - I hit the road every morning at 6 am and dont get home from work till 6:30pm MON - FRIDAY. I've tried low carb ( Not a big meat fan), raw diet ( too much thinking- my brain is fried by mid week so I can't think of anything)- liquid ( yea right). When I get up in the morning I can't even think of what to fix for lunch and the next thing you know is fast food is in my hands.
I think I am going to get some of MJ's organic and see if that will work for me. I need healthy, easy and portioned so Mary Jane's may be the way to go

I'd be interested in pairing up with someone who wants to lose quite a bit of weight, like 80 - 100 pounds.

I was on Weight Watchers a year ago and did SO well... Then I "fell off the wagon" and this year has been so chaotic, with moving my mom out closer to me and trying to get her place ready to sell... No time for myself to focus on eating right and weight loss.

Is there a buddy out there for me? Karin
bohemiangel Posted - Apr 21 2008 : 12:46:58 PM
Sissy would you rather be on your own as a big group of us or maybe if you get a partner you all could talk on the phone or email or write letters? This is what I was having in mind more intimate with a partner than a huge group but SHARE our findings and trials and tribulations. :)

I'm in but I'd rather not pair up as I'm not always able to get online as much as I'd like and don't want to let anyone down :) If it's a group thing I'm in! *~* I would like to lose about 35 pounds and get myself back out an walking every morning so it would be great to feel "accountable" for it - maybe motivate me ;)
Let me know if this works out and good luck to everyone *~* Farmgirls can do ANYthing, never doubt it *~*

Ok we have a total of 12 if I counted right including myself. I have some that are easy to pair up. If anyone else would like you be a part we'll need to close it up soon so as of tonight it will close. But if we get more people interested we can try to find you a match. Also if you haven't already said how much you want to lose or anything that might make you want to be with someone more than another because of something in common let me know ASAP. You don't have to tell everyone what you way Tina, if you feel like you want to go ahead. Once you have a buddy if you feel more intimate you can share that with them. I am feeling embarrassed of mine lately too! I think it'd be nice to post once we're started what you've lost or gained. What you did for exercise and diet. If there is anything that worked for you and that others might like. Sound good ladies?

Alee I know about the weigh in and I did that a few times till we got a new scale and now I'm FAT on our new one :-o so I quit HAHAHA.

do we have to say what our start weight is?
or can we just say..I lost x amount this week.
cause I really don't want to have to say what I currently weigh..I mean its really yucky...and yeah..I feel embarrassed by it/how I let it get out of hand....but I'd feel more comfy just putting that I lost x amount this week.would that be o.k.?
I have all of my weight watcher books that I'll be using..that program when I was a member worked well for me.

I am up for being paired up- we also have a great Monday Weigh in Thread down in the health section that has been going so some time. I need to get new scale to be able to weigh in again. Watching the numbers seems to help me keep motivated as long as only step on once or twice a week.

I'd be glad to join in too, now that school is almost over I'll soon be getting back to devoting time to exercise... and with summer coming, my diet will be getting much healthier. I have about 50 lbs I'd like to shed, but I plan to keep the focus more on toning and building up muscle and how my clothes fit than what the scale says. I am with Frannie in that it'd be best for me to do the group thing as lately I have only had time to pop in on here once a week and very briefly at that... and I would feel like I was letting my partner down if I didn't check in more often than I am able... great idea to do this Bridget, it always helps to have more support in losing weight, Thanks!!
KYgurlsrbest Posted - Apr 21 2008 : 06:41:26 AM
Tina, don't feel bad about posting your weight goal. I need to lose about 30 lbs, and on my frame, that's alot to have gained. I'd like to be back where I was when I met Justin (around 112), I'm at 139 now.
