first, coffee on the porch with honey-man.

then .. played with 'dollies' for a little while.

next .. a trip to town to visit some of the ya-ya's! stopped at lucy's then the peacock .. then ambled down to our sweet Cathy Cobblestone's precious store .. and precious friend.

i soooo wished i had my camera with me .. everything was ablaze with little 'sproutlings' .. her greenhouse is FULL .. i got some marigolds and pansies .. jus' HAD to have some 'color' here ... will plant the pansies .. but wait on the marigolds .. will put them out during the day and bring them in if we get a cold night.

had such a sweet visit with cathy .. roaming in all directions! i'll post pictures a little later of my 'treasures' that i got from her adorable shoppe. drooled on ada mae's wonderful aprons! be sure to check cathy's blogsite .. and ada mae's too (they are both farmgirls .. if you can't find their postings which will lead you to their websites .. let me know . and i'll hunt 'em down and post them!

cathy has the most wonderful way of displaying her beautiful things .. i WILL take my camera next time!

You certainly did have a lovely day! I love the cobblestone farm
blog. What beautiful things. I bought some pansies yesterday myself. I filled the flower boxes on the front porch. I just couldn't stand it any longer I had to have some plants. It has been so beautiful here,in the 70's and up to 80 tomorrow. It certainly has been great to get my hands in the dirt again.

Oh what a lovely day you had!!
I just love lilac's ours haven't bloomed yet, I can't wait!!

You've made me want to go "borrow" some branches from some neighbor hood trees I may have to do this in the am if it's not raining.

Frannie, there is a nice article about Lilacs in Country Living's May issue. It talks about cutting them back--usually 1/3 of the old or dead branches to the ground to continue bloom. Sounds like you did that and more ;) They were my Great Grandmother, Theodocia's favorite flower. I love them, too :)

OH THAT'S RIGHT!! I knew it was a 'perfume' from my youth .. but couldn't remember which one. I've not yet gotten the amazing profusion i had the first couple years i moved here. i mean i reeeeeeeeeeely whacked that sucker right to the GROUND .. and it was about 10 or 12 feet tall!! i'm just waiting for them to 'pop' a little more .. then i'll start cutting them.

you kids have fun on your kentucky gurlfrenz adventure!

the REDBUDS are in full profusion here at the 'farm' .. and all over town and the roads leading to and from it!

i picked a few redbuds branches and put them in an olde basket on the front porch along with last year's pussy willows .. that i just can't bring myself to toss!

two years ago, this purply-smelling bush ..
i whacked to the ground .. cuz' despite the
fact that it fills with beautiful and wonderfully
aroma smelling flowers .. it closed off my view
from the kitchen sink. the next spring .. i MISSED
the bouquets that i gathered from it .. and was sorry ..
but THIS year .. it is making a 'come-back' .. i think
i'll leave it alone!!

WISTERIA?

nooooooooo ... someone tell me .. i've forgotten the name.

a flat each of marigolds and pansies

ADORABLE SIGN that i got for Sofia's room.

zucchini .. which will be dinner tonight!

and 'maters .. from the 'mater man'!!!

got these colorful mixing bowls from Cobblestone's .. along
with the little 'sunflowers' .. they are so prettily wrapped .. i don't even want to un-wrap them! will sit them on our kitchen table and enjoy them for a few weeks .. just like this!

WHAT A LOVELY, LOVELY DAY!!

on my way back through town . i wanted to make a quick stop at the antiques mall .. but i only had time for that OR to stop and buy tomatoes from the Mater Man on Main Street. (i brought home bunches of tomatoes and squash ... now i'm not even asking where he got FRESH ones .. probably from the local grocery store .. but he is DARLING .. and any way i can support our locals .. i do! and somehow .. jus' buying them FROM him .. makes them taste fresher. i have tomato juice all down my chin and arm and on my shirt from eating them on the way home! i did save some for tonight's dinner salad though!

we were going to go to a double feature at the drive in tonight .. but nothing we really want to see .. soooo .. i'm going out in the garden right now and scatter some wildflower seeds and drop some sunflower seeds into my newly 'roto-tilled' gardens! (honey hunk was soooooo goooooood to do that for me while i was away playing).

what a lovely, lovely day! xo
