Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 4:24:39 PM I managed to convince Rob of the benefit to getting rid of our television!!!! So out it went this afternoon! HUZZAH!!!!!!!
we had no intention of converting it for the digital turnover next year and we only get one channel so really it's a space and time waster. Now I've more room for ANOTHER bookshelf!! And an out of the traffic path spot for our Solstice Tree next year! Do you still have your tv? whats the hold up in getting rid of it if you still have one?

Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 7:57:39 PM Amie, we only get 3 channels (and I confess, that's enough)...we actually use Netflix and watch PBS a lot more than regular television, though every now and again I need a Law and Order fix.
I applaud Tasha for getting rid of it...what's right for her family is right :). Sometimes I simply don't turn it on, but I also don't turn on my phone, either....Maybe I'll get rid of my phone!

Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 7:52:15 PM I like to watch the tv once in a while. Sometimes it's nice to check in and see what the rest of the world is up to. I get 5 channels, and if there's nothing that appeals to me on any of them I just turn it off. And our computer is not adequate for watching movies. So I'm digging in and trying to keep the old thing once analog broadcasting goes away. My husband is definitely on your side, Tasha. |

Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 7:32:28 PM Can't get rid of my tv...I'm too much of an american idol fan, the hubby is a nascar fan and we both love baseball. Not to mention we adore the closer on tnt. I am happy for you though. Keep up the great work

Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 6:16:29 PM Tasha good for you for doing what you felt was best!! If you don't like it why keep it right? I do confess I like my TV. Not every show on it that's for sure. But, I just watch what I like. I really wouldn't want to get rid of it. But, that's just my opinion!

Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 5:26:05 PM I would love to do away with ours..but husband protests every time I bring it up. The kids only watch limited tv...much less than any of their friends I hear..haha. We use the tv for movies alot and I play CDs on the DVD player..that was a happy day when I figured that one out!! But I rarely sit down and watch a show. Besides..I lose track of when things come on anyhow. But...getting it out of the house would be like world war III here. dang it. Good for you Tasha!

Posted - Apr 16 2008 : 4:38:40 PM oh lordy chile .. we LOVE our TV ... i adore watching 'movies' while i'm sewing dollies .. and hank keeps up with the 'world news' (CITY BOY!) and nature programs .. and his beloved RED SOX! .. and political programs .. and i do still get my 'funny bone' tickled with a 'silly sitcom' from time to time .. i also love the HISTORY channel and our very own Kentucky tv station .. i learn lots about areas and events that i might not otherwise know about .. or might miss! (our local paper comes but once a week .. and then it has to be mailed to us (no delivery out here) .. and it is only county-wide local at that.
we jus' got two big flat screen HD tv's.
hurrah for you gurlfren if you jus' don't enjoy them and if it was inded a time waster for you (with only ONE channel?)
now we do make lots of time in our lives for reading (hank especially is a HUGE reader) .. and lots of outdoor time and runnin' the roads .. and i'm pretty creative .. but when i want to see sumpthin' on tv .. i'm thankful it's there.
i see the tv as i see the 'computer' .. you have to 'balance' your life .. and both of these 'new-fangled' contraptions .. i dooooo enjoy!
