right? That all the yelling and loud kids in the neighborhood want to come to my house to play?
They get off the bus and take their bags home and come here. Thats a good thing right?

Then why am I so annoyed with them today? LOL

It's a very good thing sweetie.

When I was growing up our house was the house everyone went to every day after school and every day of summer break. It was the place where we all had water balloon fights, picnics in the backyard, made forts out of sheets and blankets around the swingset, played marathon monoploy tournaments and just hung out well after dark. Most nights we had kids ask if they could eat dinner with us or come over after dinner to watch TV or listen to records.

I still remember those days and those kids even though we are no longer in contact, but it's my mom that remembers it most. Because with all the chaos and noise and people ours was the house with love and family. Most of the kids on my street were not allowed to have friends over because of the mess they would make. Their moms were more interested in the perfect house rather than the perfect childhood. We even had kids that had to use other people's bathrooms because their mom wouldn't let them in the house while she was cleaning.

I know most of us don't have plans to be Mother Theresa to every wayward kid on the block, but when you offer what their homes do not you become the serragote family.

But remember - your house your rules and when it gets too, too much take an Advil and throw everyone outside.

In the long run those kids will be more influenced by you than their own parents, which is the saddest thing of all.
