Hi ladies,

I need some help on a project that I am starting at my church. After recv'ing inspiration from Grace's felt pin swap (here on the "farm") and our prayer/blessing shawl program at my church, I decided to make some felt pins to add to the shawls once they are completed before they are dedicated and given out to the recipients. I really wanted to become involved somehow, but I am still working on my crochet/knitting skills. My pastor LOVED the idea!

So....I know that I can not do this on my own for one, but I also wanted to have a little team of "angels" to help make these pins to grace these lovely and meaningful shawls....as a colaborative effort. The pins will be made out of felt/fabric.

For the pins, metal pin backs (that can be bought from any craft store) can be hot glued or stitched down to the back of the pin.

This of course would be an ongoing project. Once I have more exact info on how this will be done, I will let you all know.

I would also like to distribute a small group of pins to those needing comfort here at the "farm"...those going through a variety of troubles and hurts. We can work on this maybe in May sometime

Also regarding the prayer shawls specifically, anyone that you know/love that could use a shawl from my church let me know and I will put a request in to the ladies that are doing them. Right now, it is my pastor's wife, her daughter and another lady who are working on these so I will do my best to get your request "approved".

Here is the info on the shawls themselves (in general):

If you would like to help me with this project and donate your time, materials and love, please respond to the thread. I am thinking postage would be $1 - $3 at most to send the pins to me when ready to do them - depending on the amount made, etc (I will provide my address as needed).

**One other important note, before working on these and as you complete them (like the shawls)...say a general little prayer, blessing, thought of comfort, wish, etc. Once I do know of spacific persons w/ their situations. I will keep you all updated.

I am looking for anything inspirational...like hearts, stars, doves, a flower, angels, or even a background "holding" an inspirational word. Look to the one felt pin swap thread for ideas/inspirations.:

Any other ideas are welcome....

Thanks so much for your help

Hey Y'all,

www.cleoandme.com carries the rayon/wool blend felt that is so very nice and is reasonable...she sells it by the 1/2 yd but if you email her first..she will sell it to you in 1/4 yard cuts...I've used it and it gives such an "upscale" look to the finished item..

Amy, I'd be happy to donate some of my fabric flower brooches to the cause along the way since this is an ongoing ministry..

You can see what I make from my header photo on my blog:

And by the way Amy, my pinkeep still isn't finished..doggoneit!!! Been tied up with income tax and selling the mountain house..it's a comin though....someone also mentioned doing a second round on the pinkeep swap...Let me know what would be easier right now..you to shift me to the next round or wait for me on this first round?? Anyway is ok with me...Just never anticipated all this extra work on the taxes this year

Talk to ya soon, Steph

If you don't have a craft store in your area....here are some online stores.....

Felt sources (if you would like to do a felt pin):

Any craft store should carry felt. As for online stores not too sure, would have to look. Will post what I find.

Like the ones done in the felt pin swap, here is an example:

You don't have to use felt tho, but it is nice to use....is that what you mean? Hope that helps
