Hello
I have a question for those of you who are in business for your selves. With the economy the way it is, I too am in need of some new ideas to get the word out about my hand quilting service business. I advertise in leading quilting magazines and have a website. I pass out business cards at every opportunity. Does any one have any other good ideas. I would appreciate any and all ideas.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I love what I do and want to help others finish their unfinished quilt tops. Its a passion. I was very glad to help you with your grandmothers quilt top. What a wonderful memory of her. God Bless her. Like my grandmother, who meant the world to me, having a treasure, like the top that she had given to you, I know that this will always have a very special place in your heart.

Ruby - I love you! Anyone reading this thread, please know that Ruby is one of those rare people who work hard, and go beyond the expectations of her customers! If you want a museum quality, hand sewn quilt, which in my opinion is the best there is, go to www.handmadestitches.com

Jeannie, we were happy to help you finish your quilt top. As hand quilters, we are always helping customers finish their unfinished quilt tops, and busy hand quilting the finished top into a beautiful finished quilt top. My good friend also put up a blog site for me. Check it out along with my website.
Anyone needing their quilt top hand quilted, we are happy to finish your project for you also.

Hi Ruby, if you know of "country stores" who might sell you wares locally, that is another idea. Try to have you website listed in "webrings" helps as well. There are webrings that focus on "primitives" or rustic items...so those might be something to check into. Farmer's markets MIGHT be interested, or crafter's markets, so you can check those out locally, as well....hmm..I would suggest BLOGS, to show off your work, but they are sometimes time intensive to keep up with....
Hmmm...still thinkin....

Ruby - I am very much supporting your business here on MJF! You are wonderful to work with, and the quality of your work is superb. I hope you can find customers across the nation. This site is a good place to begin.
And Etsy can help too. And maybe even EBAY if you have quilts already finished to sell. But I cannot say enough about your work! It is wonderful.

Then you can list little odds and ends you make and would like to sell...but make the focus custom work. Even though you have a website there are so many people on ETSY that would find you there while browsing around.

Hi Ruby - Do you have your cards at local quilt shops? How about attending quilting retreats and presenting your services. Do you teach classes? You could advertise your service at classes you teach. I have postcards advertising my website that I send to a mailing list I've compiled of prior customers to remind them where they can find me. How about local craft fairs? You could set up a booth and demo your craft and perhaps sell a few completed items. Be sure and have plenty of cards on hand for people to pick up for future reference.
