So is there a book or site or anything that anyone has found about surviving a rough spell?

Heh, Sherri, I remember the Tightwad Gazette...some of it is extreme, but some good advice.

There are a lot of books about rough times financially - some of the ones with more practical advice are the Tightwad Gazette series, the Mary Hunt books, Americas Cheapest Family, The Idiot's Guide to Simple Living, Frugal Living for Dummies, - millions of books about simple living, or living on a reduced income. As far as websites go, check out one simple living/frugality website and the links will take you on an endless journey!! Try Simple Living Network, or The Dollar Stretcher to start out. Then just keep following the links!

I've been reading "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle and it has really helped me to take a step back from my emotions and look at what is really important. Although somewhat "controversial," I also enjoy Dr. Laura Schlessinger's books and radio show for advice on relationships...whether romantic, family, or friends. The best life skill I've ver learned is meditation. This can be prayer, reading quietly, sitting in nature, or more structured meditative practice. Hope you find something that works well for you...take care.
