Hey Zan, I love your "creepy hallway tree"...makes me happy! And, I want your doves...I just love those birds, my favorite of all, I think. That's why we painted our bedroom the color named "turtledove".

Hey Zan...well, right now we're in a bit of transition space-wise, but forever my house has been full of old farm tools because I love the asthetic and lines of these simple tools (we have an old scythe and an old wooden hay fork hanging above each side window in the living room), and an old barn ladder with my collection of vintage tablecloths hanging on it in the corner. I've always collected folk art, so there's a number of hand carved birds and figures, and homemade baskets that I either use, or just again, like the simplicty of the lines--I'm a big proponent of "use" and don't like too much sitting around for "show". Unless it's too delicate, it's used someway.
My "farmgirl" says no curtains or window treatements because I love the light, winter spring summer fall....but because we live in a 1920's neighborhood, our neighbors are closer than I'd like, so instead of curtains, I use old stained glass windows from an old country church in Grant County, Kentucky, that blur the "scene" but still let light in on the lower portion of the window.
The kitchen is totally a working kitchen--it's fully of kitchy things (like my Bessie cow butter dish from the 1940's) but, again, it's working and I usually am not very perfect about how it looks decoratively.
Our outside is full of blooming things, raised vege beds (building 2 more this weekend!), an english rose garden, and a lower yard (behind the "dogs yard") where we have naturalized native plants to attract bees, wild brambles for making jam/cordial and an old pear tree. Even lower still, is a rushing creek bed and our fire pit with bales of straw to sit on and a table for outdoor dining parties or an early autumn fire.

If you all could see my house in its normal state, you'd wonder "What the heck is she doing here?" LOL... The only "farmy" or "country" things in here are the MJF bedding and linens, and of course the bake-over pan which are very recent additions. By normal state, I mean that when my husbands mother passed away, we got her living room furniture, so that is smooshed in with my original "decor". With the exception of cast iron cookware, the whole scheme is hippie spartan beach house. Think white, driftwood gray, blues from top to bottom. Furniture is a futon, hemp bean bags, sea grass table and baskets, bamboo and sea grass cafe style dining set, a Kluger painting (Tammy - You might have seen his work in Ocean City. BTW, I agree with Zan...Don't give up the blog. I check it out whenever I get online, but I am on-line challenged and don't know how to leave comments yet ;) and prints of mermaids here and there. Oh and a Oriental gong in the front window.
Again, Tammy, you'll get a chance to see it all when the basement is finished and it's my turn to host the chapter meeting.

Hey Zan! Your apartment is very charming! It looks very inviting with lots of character. My place has some primitive country pieces...2 pie safes, a dry sink, old tables and chairs. It also has collectibles such as old cast iron cookware, some stoneware and enamelware, and any quirky, folky little thing I can add for interest. I also have a lot of houseplants. Fun post!

Hi, Zan! My house is full of more vintage furniture, with an antique thrown in here or there. I collect enamelware (usable, of course) have an old farm-style plank table in my dining room, and use quilts and vintage linens on my beds. My bath has a clawfoot tub (which I LOVE!!!) and I make my own soaps and candles, which are scattered throughout the house. Eventually, I'll have my enclosed front porch decorated, and I'll probably spend most of my time out there, shelling peas, working on my craft projects, or just reading my latest farming magazine! My house sits on the front side of 60 acres, so I have a view of pastures, cows and gardens from my windows. City or rural doesn't really matter, though. It's the heart of the home that counts, and all our homes have the heart of a farm girl!!!

Hey Zan!
I have a lot of homemade things in my home - dishcloths, soap holders, and decorations. I also have a lot of freebie furniture and some antiques that I have refinished. My sewing machine is always ready and you will always find needles, thread, and some craft project or another going on here. My house is also full of family pics because that is the most important thing in my life. You'll also find my craft room full of projects and things that I am bartering with other famrgirls here. The post office loves me! lol

My friends say that going into my house is like going into their grandma's house! 
It's decorated with family antiques or things I've found in the barns or junk/thrift/antique store finds. My only complaint - I could never "redecorate" because everything is too meaningful!
I think our entire day is a celebration of farm life - we're immersed in the middle of the entire farm operation so there's no getting away from it. Not that anyone wants to!
