I used to have so many coupons, I organized them in a little box. But in the past few years, I've been going to salvage groceries a lot. I seem to find a lot of fresh produce marked down in Kroger's, which we check a lot, since it's on our way home from work.

Our Winco store often has better prices than the coupons from other stores. We shop there as right now and normally we plant a decent sized veggie garden to help out as well.

We don't get the newspaper, but I have a feeling that over the summer we will clip coupons as we will be living in an area with much higher grocery prices. We also shop at Costco and we do look through their coupon books while we shop.

I clip coupons, but I'm finding that more and more that the coupons aren't really worth it. Save .75 on 5 (whatevers) or something like that...since it's just the two of us, I rarely need 5 whatevers...I still look but don't bother clipping if it's a multiple purchase item, or if you only get the money off if you buy a companion product. I do just as well comparing prices on brands. Takes a little longer but is still effective.

Wow, by the way, went to the grocery on Saturday and spent $127.00 on what appears to be nothing...the cheapest loaf of "good" bread I could find was $2.99. The rest were 2 for $7.00 or $3.50 and up!!!

i used to clip and sort the coupons but either i forgot to use them/take them with me when i shopped, or i could get another brand cheaper than the one on sale. also, a lot of the time it was for the big size and it would sit on the shelf forever. anyway, we have stores that you give them your name and they give you a frequent buyer card. i'll save a lot on that, especially if say for instance the store got a lot or a great deal on shrimp, they will advertise for their frequent buyers and at checkout run my card through the scanner and take a couple $ off the price per pound. so you kind of shop seasonally as well.

Rarely do I do coupons any more. I used to be the Coupon Queen, but in recent years, most of the coupons have become for convenience type foods or things I do not use. I make my own cleaners, so I don't need those, I don't buy such things as Lean Cuisine, Instant Rice, snackables, or others such goofy things. About the only coupons I use are for toilet paper and occasionally for a restaurant on the rare days we eat out. That being said, I do watch prices closely and buy many store brands, I always check marked down meats and day old bakery items too. We raise pigs, so I don't need that and I can green beans, bread and butter pickles, applesauce and tomato sauce. I also freeze strawberrys, corn and whatever else I might find a deal on or raise. Since moving to this house, I haven't had a garden, as it is on a severe hill. I am making raised beds into the hill this year for gardening . . . assuming I can keep the dear from eating it all.

I think the biggest savings for grocerys is to make a list and stick to it. I usually alot for two extras, so that I can still get a treat or two without going outside the budget. We also do the cash envelope for our groceries. When the envelope is empty, our shopping is done until the next payday. A budget is an absolute must in saving on groceries.

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

I did, then I wasn't really saving much so I started to look at prices and specials and off brand ones.

Every time I get the urge to clip coupons, I can't find what I need. I buy store brands, but there aren't coupons for things like fruit or milk, you know?

LORDY NO! i wish if stores wanted to give us a discount .. they would just give us a discount without making us work for it .. i'd rather be makin' dollies than goin' through newspapers. don't read the newspaper even for the news. i will ask at michaels for their 50% discount coupon (even though i don't get the newspaper that would even have the coupons) .. all you have to do is sign a sheet .. don't even NEED the coupon! but i usually only ask if i am buying something expensive. don't look for brand names or off-brands .. we have our 'tasty' favs .. and those are the ones i usually buy. i probably could save a buncha' pennies if i did. HOWEVER .. i do look for SALES when it comes to other stuff. xoxo

You betcha!

Have been ever since I was a kid and helped Mom organize hers.

Kind of cool when the register tape is just as long with coupons as it is for the stuff you bought!

I use joanns and micheals if I need something from those stores.
But as far as groceries, we try to buy as much organic as possible and I done ever see any of those in the papers here.
and alot of the coupons I see in mags and places arent what I would every buy anyway. I dont use any already prepared frozen stuff. and costco doesnt take coupons at there stores bummer

I have always clipped coupons. the best coupons I get are from manufacturer's websites. also, you can buy them off ebay for cheap. It is well worth it if you pay 1.00 for a 7.00 off coupon. I mostly clip coupons for baby stuff like Earth's Best. It really helps for having to pay for formula, $25+ a week. I could not produce breastmilk, after colostrum and we do not qualify for WIC.

I have used coupons for years, but only on items I would normally buy, or would like to try. I will buy store brand too. I love Trader Joe's stuff, it's reasonably priced and the quality is good.
On rare occasions, I have run into coupons for organic products but not enough to make a special trip or anything.
I try to shop at Super Target, once a week and only stay in the grocery part of the store on pay days. (Fridays)
I will once in a while, head over to the other major grocery store in town here.
Otherwise I shop at my co-op.

I do my best with coupons but I mostly stick to store brands on most things. For things, like my hubby's "Special" razor blades or thing of that nature, I definitely look around for coupons.

I really have been shopping more locally and making less trips here and there. I am also going to garden this year, I only use vinegar to clean with, hanging out the laundry- it all adds up.

Cheers,
Heather

I clip coupons every week from the Chicago Tribune and magazines. I shop at Whole Foods and always grab their coupon books too. I buy the item that is the best price, coupon or not. I really like Whole Foods store brands, but if a brand name is on sale & I have a coupon for it, then I'll buy it instead.

I wish I could find more organic food coupons though. It would be nice if they had such a thing as gas coupons! The prices here are a real bite in the shorts!

I sure do..always have..and I save between $20 and $30 usually on each big shopping trip every 2 weeks. I will buy store brands that are just as good if I don't have a coupon...I am brand loyal on SOME things...but not alot. It saves alot on things like dog and cat food, paper products and medicine and personal care type things I notice. Sure don't save on basics though...shame.
