GURLZ .. there are some chilluns here that don't have names .. and Sister Mercy has asked me to ask all our friends to send some favorite 'names' for these dollies. if you would like to give a dolly a special name .. jus' e-mail it to Sister Frances Catherine.

IF you love the dolly that gets the name you chose .. and would like to adopt her .. let us know right away!

AND REMEMBER .. any dolly wouldn't mind having her momma give her her own special name.

i just posted to jeannie that i adopted a little two year old girl by the name of LISA LYNN .. i loved the name KRISTEN SUZANNE .. sooo .. i changed her name (legallly upon adoption) ..

to make the transition easier .. i called her LISA KRISTEN .. for a week or two .. then KRISTEN LISA for a couple more weeks .. and when i knew she was familiar with the name KRISTEN and knew that was HER .. i just slowly dropped LISA.

Rag Dollies usually don't mind having their names changed. If they do mind .. they will almost always let you know!

Now that I have returned from our fun 'gurlfren road-trip' to OHIO .. more rag chillun will be wandering down the hill to the Foundlin' Home. Be watchin' for them.

And thank you from the bottom of my heart for lovin' my little rag chiles! xo, Sister Frances Catherine

I don't know about a dolly name, but my maternal grandparents were from rural West Virginia and she used to tell me all kinds of stories of her growing up. I remember to this day one of her friends names - maybe you can pick part of it out for a dolly name. Her name was "Henrietta Safara Marar John Roxy Eleanor Brown". Where they got Safara Marar, I have no idea!

Aunt Jenny - I think all of the good parts of Texie live on in you. That was neat to hear about her. I like her even more now!

When I was pregnant, I wanted to name my girl Julia Constance. I was talked out of it, because it is not the prettiest middle name. But you know what, I believe people are called to certain names. She would have been aptly named, because she is constant. Strong, always on task, rarely wavering in her actons and remarks. A constant beacon. Now I wish I had listened to my inner voice, because she lived into that name after all! :) Julia Constance - I still like it myself!

oh .. and i believed so profoundly about Erik's spirit .. that every day on Memorial Day .. i never let her near water.
When she was SEVEN (the year Eric died) .. she was in Arizona with Hank and Kristen visiting Hank's parents .. who had a swimming pool. I realized this a day before .. and got on a plane and flew to Arizona to keep her away from water.

After that year, i relaxed and never feared again.

isn't it strange how we let 'superstitions' bother us sometimes?

Gosh .. even now i cannot let a PENNY LAY!!!

oh .. that would be a fun topic .. i think i'll ask the gurlfrenz! xoxo

WEDNESDAY WITCH ... funny .. cuz' i didn't even remember there WAS a "wednesday" on that show .. and how befitting .. cuz' wednesday was born on HALLOWEEN (which by the way .. was a SATURDAY the day she was born).

Her 5-year old sister liked WENDY the GOOD little WITCH from Casper the Friendly Ghost .. and suggested it for her name. I liked WENDY .. but wanted her 'given' name to be 'more' .. soooo ... WEDNESDAY was literally 'born'. xo

ohhh .. another eeeeerie story! The very first time i ever felt my angel-baby's wings 'flutter' .. life inside of me .... was Memorial Day Morning. Later that day, i got a phone call .. telling me the sad news that a very precious little boy child .. the son of friends of ours had drowned that very morning.

I never told the family about how i had felt Wednesday kick at the time of his death.

When i moved back to Maryland .. and introduced her to them .. the mother and father both gasped and said that she looked EXACTLY like their little son ... and he, too, was born on HALLOWEEN.

If souls return to earth .. i thought perhaps little Erik had returned to Wednesday.

HAHA I love wednesday.....but then again I am a fan of the ol adams family:) That would make her be known. I love different names. Not terribly many Bridgets. I love Irish names and Biblical names. Or names with meaning to me:)

lovin' all these names .. needless to say . .i love DIFFERENT names .. a la: WEDNESDAY!!! when i named KRISTEN .. i only knew of two other kristens (one was ricky nelson's wife) .. the other .. a beautiful child of a friend of mine.

soon's i named her .. there was an EXPLOSION of girl babies named KRISTEN!! she has always liked her name. she was not the type of child to love 'different' avant garde names. WEDNESDAY .. my little actress, model, ballerina LOVED the uniqueness of her name .. HA! then she turns into a LAWYER .. well, everyone in the legal community in OHIO knows who WEDNESDAY SZOLLOSI is!!!!!!!!

Jeannie...my Great Grandma Texie was a character for sure. About 4 ft. 10 and tough as nails...she loved to grow roses and had a beautiful garden. She lived in No. Calif in her own little house until she was about 80 and then spent about 10 years going from child to child (hers I mean) to stay with them as long as they could handle it (seriously..she was a handful) and since she had alot of children (9) it took awhile to get through the list and she would be back to the first ones again...and then spent the last year in a rest home and died at about 91 when I was in high school.
Frannie Texas...love the story about your name! Does sound like you were meant to keep that name! All my 5 adopted kids came with their names. We liked them all and just changed middle names on the youngest 4. They got to help pick the new ones since they were old enough, all but Travis, who was only 3. They are all named after someone.

oops, i forgot to mention a fav name from my childrens ancestors on their dad 's side.
india ann
and i agree with aunt jenny(on most everything!) people used to name their children interesting names. but then i named my first child after a duck....teal...go figure.
i'm late with this response frannie, but my name, frances which i dont like, was already given to me when my parents adopted me, a nun named me after herself.
the plan was to name me karin or khearin, i think khearin sue, but i already had the name frances, and after a 2 year wait, the got the call about me on the 1st year anniversary of my maternal grandfathers death,,,,,his name was francis, so they decided best not to change it.
i always thought this was kinda interesting.

Love the name Texie! Would like to have met her!

In our family, we had Ruth, Lily, Mae, Beaulah, Evelyn, Inez, Lois Elaine, Thelma Elizabeth, Irma, Avis. Some of our neighbors were Adeline and Emmabelle. One of my current close friends, who is 85, is named Sanna Jane, and she named her daughter Sanna kay. I think both of those are so pretty.

I would have to pick these names:
Berniece Alberta (my maternal grandmother)
Rita Elnettie (my paternal grandmother)
Linnie Mae (my great-grandmother)

I have always loved the names Bronwyn and Marin (too close to Karin for a daughter:).
It is going to be hard to pick from all of these wonderful names. But then, I think you have a lot more chillun' in that imagination of yours!

this would be a sweet name for another little girl in our family .. because both frankie's (the dad .. wednesday's husband) name is EMMA and my Aunt Emma raised me .. so she is somewhat the 'great grammy' ... and FRANCES is for both ME and the daddy "Francis".

they are not crazy about nick-names .. but would probably call her Emmy .. to keep the confusion down from 'gramma Emma' .. time will tell .. and THEN .. it might be a BOY!!! xo

texas frannie .. as a child i did NOT like the name FRANCES .. in the 40's .. it seemed that every third girl child born got that name and every 5th BOY child also got the name FRANCIS!

as i get older .. i like it more and more (but still want to be called FRANNIE .. don't much care for FRAN though!)

our daughter is 'considering' EMMA FRANCES as a name if they have a little girl in June. after the two 'grammies'.
