Posted - Mar 13 2008 : 6:27:08 PM I have been watching this treadle sewing machine for a couple of monthes at our thrift/antique store. At first they wanted $100 for it, which is a very good price, but I didn't have that to spend. Today I went in and it was marked $25 dollars!!! It is in wonderful, working condition! I also got a cutter quilt and a cute bunny.

Posted - Mar 15 2008 : 5:06:55 PM I have been meaning to post this and this is as good a place as any. Did you know that Singer's headquarters in Tennessee has almost all their machines on hand? My sister called and the lady said just a minute and let me get to your machine and she could look at it while my sister was talking to her about whatever it was wrong with it. Isn't that SOME KIND of customer service? Pretty nifty, I think.

Posted - Mar 14 2008 : 09:14:34 AM Jonni (KYgurlsrbest), I've always thought twins would be fun! Maybe they could get together someday.LOL!
Shirley, they have another one that is a little bit smaller and one of the drawers is not in good shape for $59.99. They have dropped the price down $10 since the first time I checked. If your ever down this way, please, please, please, give me a call and we'll go find some fun!

Posted - Mar 14 2008 : 07:40:16 AM Wow! Beautiful. Can you just imagine if the machine could talk? Where it came from? What houses it lived in. What the family's were like. If it was used for clothing or crafts or what ever. Maybe a home business for a lady that needed the money or to make dresses for a little girl or perhaps to sew on patches for a little boy. I want one...lol I am going to have to keep my eyes open for one. May you always use it in good health and happiness! Marcy

Posted - Mar 13 2008 : 11:27:03 PM Wow - what a find! That machine looks brand new! I noticed what looks like a little light on one side. I have a White treadle, purchased by my grandma and now owned by me. Bought in 1918. Anyway, it has a little light in one of the drawers. You really got a bargain and a treasure!!!

Posted - Mar 13 2008 : 8:33:01 PM Beautiful old Singer and in great condition. I've noticed they just seem to sit in the stores and what a shame. If they could only talk, what tales of making clothing and all for the families could be told! My daughter has my old treadle...traded an 8 track tape player for it in 1973. Nice quilt too, doesn't look like a cutter to me. But then, I can't bear to cut into quilts :)

Posted - Mar 13 2008 : 7:54:42 PM Camille, I have that very same one, only in a "portable cabinet"....looks like it was electrified at some point. My husband bought it for me two Christmases ago and there it sits (like my brand new machine) in it's gorgeous oak arched box.
You and I have twin machines!!! Very cool!
