Does any one use their solar powered clothes dryer much? Weather permiting? AKA the clothes line. I hung my clothes out today and they smell so fresh and clean. There was just enough of a breeze to dry the clothes pretty fast. Now that spring is just around the corner I hope to use it more often.

Great finds Alee. I had a wooden clothes rack I used when my boys were babies(a long time ago). I put it neat the wood heater in the winter to dry clothes.

I have a clothes rack that I dumpster dived. I couldn't believe it. One morning I was going to take out my trash and the neighbors were dumping a perfectly wonderful all wood clothes line! These are the neighbors that threw away a child's picnic table from Fisher Price (nothing wrong with it) a little Red Flyer child's wagon (nothing wrong with it) and countless other perfectly usable items.
Anyway...I use it as often as I can. Our laundry room has been a bit crowded lately so I do admit that I haven't used it as much as I should- but I am getting back to using it all the time now. Once I get my laundry caught up, it will be easy to hang up every load. Except the diapers. I like the dryer heat because I feel it helps kill any lurking germs since they are the contoured cloth diapers and I don't have an outdoor line to let the sunshine disinfect them.

I wish that I could use my clothesline but we still have about three to four feet of snow in the backyard. Ugh!

I am glad some one besides me remembered the "solar power clothes dryer" ads, Lisa Marie.
The clothes pins swap sounds interesting, Grace. Is there photos on here of any of those? Were they wooden clothes pins, plastic, or both?

Pam,
back in Calif., I had a retractable clothes line. I loved it. I would put the towels/pillowcases etc. to the outside & the "under mentionables" in 'tween them. don't want the neighbors to see my bright red panties,teehee,blush blush & giggle giggle!
But alas, here in Spokane, there is still snow on the ground....but I did bring my retractable clothes line with me and I have the perfect location for it come warmer weather.
In fact, here on the MJF forum, we have had several clothes pin swaps.... where we decorated our clothes pins for swapping so our hanging clothes could have a a little "bling".
I use mine as clips for chip bags, holding my cafe curtain open, I even put some magnet strips on some and use as note holders on the refridg.

I remember those ads, Pam. That's funny that you brought it up. Unfortunately, my drying area is still under snow up to my chin (the roof dumps over there). So it will be a while yet before I can get back to it. But, man, I can smell that great line-fresh linen already!

I used my solar dryer yesterday, too, Pam! I washed 5 loads just so I could catch that delightful breeze. To me, hanging clothes on the line is therapy. I don't even mind doing laundry when I can stand outdoors in the sunlight and enjoy hanging each piece on the line!
I hope to have a nice solid solar dryer this year. Right now I have a retractable that runs all the way across our front porch which is 40 feet long. When the lines are full of overalls and linens, this place looks a sight! LOL But I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Very funny.
I air dry my stuff too, I put it in the regular dryer briefly to fluff it up, then I hang it to dry.
I think it's a great way to go, makes so much sense.

Jennifer, I hope you didn't get choked.lol..but really in the 1970's during the energy crunch we had back then someone had these ads out for Solar Power Clothes Dryers for sale through ads. It seem like the price was $29.00. Then when their orders came it was a clothes line and a pack of clothes pins. It was on a lot of the news channels about the scam.
I just though some one would get a kick out of the name. When I use the clothes line regular I can see a difference in the electric bill and the clothes smell so good. If it something like blue jeans that get stiff on the clothes line I run the jeans on air fluff in the dryer a few minutes,when I bring them in and it softens them up.
Whitney, I am sure it won't be long until you have that clothes line.

I am jealous! I am temporarily in an apt so am unable to :( I hung all my clothes over a railing to dry once at my old apt and my landlord took the time to come knock and my door and ask me to take them down, saying it gave the complex a bad image. Wow.
So I am just counting down the days until I can have a nice little clothesline to use - so many things to look forward to!!!
