Dell computers are really hard on their heat sinks/fans. I know the one with a past job, it would overheat and sound like a jetplane taking off. I only had it for a month and had to get it fixed. Then there were a few other computers in other offices doing the same thing. We just called them hotflashes for computers. haha. I was getting ready to ask if it was still under warranty, but just saw it was 8 years old.

Yep he opened it and this square thinging was floating around unattached along with the parts that were to be attached to it and the mother board. It's an 8 year old Dell and he fixed it with tweezers and other man stuff. Could be duct tape and he's got it up and running. He's so handy. But I am looking at new ones for him as the band aid will not work for ever. He hates spending money so I do it for him and give him presents. Maybe he just likes the presents.

A heat sink is what draws the heat that is generated by the inner workings of the computer- away from the inner workings. Most everything in your computer generates heat, but won't work in a hot condition.
