Here is a slide show of the damage to the car and surrounding area. Some of the pictures show the damage to my lawn and some show the insulation foam that came from the other vehicle.

I had been really deep asleep, and you know how when you are so deep asleep, and something wakes you up, your brain isn't firing on all cylinders?

I jumped out of bed hearing a dog barking outside and I'm thinking "Oh No! I left Sky outside all night!" Then I realize that Sky is following me as I am going to go "let her in." So I stop in the hallway to try and get my bearings.

Then I realize I hear someone pounding on the door and ringing the doorbell of our neighbors right below us (we live in a duplex). So I get dressed to go outside and ask them to lay off because of the baby, and as I approach the door- someone starts knocking on OUR door. I can hear through the door and can hear the Moscow PD Dispatcher talking to the police officer, so I go ahead and open the door.

He asks us if we own a white car....yes we do...and he tells us it's been hit and can we (my husband had caught up to me at this point) come down?

So we grab our coat and go downstairs. The car got hit, sideswiping the whole driver's side and plowing it up into our yard. We are pretty sure it's totaled and not able to be driven until we get the rear tire fixed. I'll dig out my camera and post pictures later.

I am just SO thankful that no one was in our vehicle. Oh yes! And the police found the guy that hit our car. Yay. Hopefully he has insurance.

amazing they found the guy. that's the major problem in my part of town, tons of unlicensed, uninsured, often non-english speaking drivers.

Oh, crud! What an awful mess for you to deal with. I really hope that guy has insurance. If not, you'd have to take him to court for what he owes you. Good luck car shopping.

That sucks, Alee. But better to get hit while you're not in the car, right?

I actually had something similar happen last weekend. Only it took several days for me to realize that something more serious had happened to my car than just the broken window that I submitted a claim for. Now it looks like the car is junk, and I don't think I can make a claim at this point because I told them last weekend that there was no further damage.

So I'm in the market for a 'new' car as well, and I'm not looking forward to it either.

Hang in there Sis! Thank goodness you have a good guy working for you! What a gift.

I went through the same thing with a car and am now covered up to the eyeballs for everything!

Make sure you get GAP insurance too. A lot of people (like me) forget that and it's not fun paying off a car you no longer own. ugh.

I'm thinking really positive thoughts for you Alee. It's going to all be good!

The police have not yet been able to contact the guy for any more information. I am praying praying praying that he was insured. BTW- I will _never_ go without full coverage again. It doesn't matter how good of a driver we are, it matters how good of a driver _they_ are. If I was fully covered I would be driving a new car by now.

Also- I have been _highly_ impressed with my insurance agent. Perhaps it is just this particular agent, but I am very impressed. I carry Progressive car insurance and he has been amazing. A year ago- almost two now, I had Farmer's Insurance and had almost this exact same thing happen. Hit and run- police found the guy etc etc. Farmers told me because I did not carry full insurance they couldn't help me with his insurance. So I had to do all the bargaining and research myself.

My Progressive agent is handling all of that for me. He is even calling the guy and sending out a letter of demand for information as we speak (type?).

I am in the process of trying to get qualified to buy a new/used car. Did I mention I hate car shopping? When I was a new driver (16) I thought it was fun to look at new cars and go car shopping. Now I realize what an investment they are and how each car really grows to fit it's drivers. So wish me luck!

Sometimes an event this dramatic can suck the energy right out of you Alee. Remember to be gentle with yourself and enjoy the down time. Any word on whether the guy was fully covered?

Well Linda, today _has_ been calmer! LOL Hard to beat yesterday. So today I am just vegging out with Miss Nora, Sky-Dog and watching movies and such. I probably should be doing household chores, but I am not very motivated.

I would have about wet myself with all that going on and I am so onboard with everyone's gratitude and thankfulness over it being early and the car being empty. Blessings abound!
My fingers are crossed that the man who hit your car is fully covered.
Here's hoping tomorrow is blissfully calmer.
