My daughters, Shelby and Maggie have a friend named Emily. Emily is three and lives with her aunt, uncle and two cousins (4 and 2) now because her mom and dad are unwilling to be even marginally decent parents. Emily is loved and adored in her new home and today is her birthday. She's never had a party before. So not only is today her "first" birthday in "Leap Years" it's also really her first REAL birthday.

She and her cousins happen to be here today because their regular babysitter is off today. We made purple frosted cupcakes and sang to her and she was smiling so big I almost cried. She's having a huge party with family and friends tomorrow and she just can't wait! I'll bet she doesn't even sleep tonight.

That is wonderful. It brings a smile to my face to think of her having so much fun!

Jennifer, that is SO wonderful of you to do for her and I'll bet you just made that little girl a memory she'll carry with her for the rest of her life!

You're awesome!
