Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 9:10:21 PM I use a small antique bottle I found at a junk shop. It had lost its stopper and had a chip on the bottom, but it still looked great. I bought a package of spouts from Smart & Final, the kind they use for liqure bottles.
I love the look, but no one else like to use it - pours too slow they say. |

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 2:03:07 PM I have one that is used for oil but I put hand soap in it and I also used one for dish soap but then my daughter made a crocheted cover so I just use the soap bottle with that on it. It is one of the small ones from Seventh Generation and the cover fits well.

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 1:33:56 PM I used to have one, but I knocked it over. It seemed like more trouble than they were worth, so I just use the bottle it comes in. I use 7th generation dish soap, so it is attractive enough.

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 1:26:29 PM I bought a pretty bottle from Michael's a few years ago. It had decorative wiring and glass beading on it. One place you can get those toppers for olive oil is in the alcohol section of the kitchen stores. Most places use them to cap off hard alcohol to pour out into shot glasses. But I like to use them to dole out my dish soap- Otherwise I have a tendency to just give a "good squirt" which is always too much! LOl

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 12:13:03 PM I have an olive oil bottle for dishsoap and a round glass jar with a pump lid that says Nut House Quality nuts, for hand soap. I also have one of those built in pumpers in the sink, but it doesn't work so well, you have to pump and pump. Those bottle aprons are the cutest. I think they are $5 or less on etsy

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 11:49:30 AM Pier 1 has a nice selection of glass bottles that would be good for such use. I used to use one. Now I just keep the soap under the sink. |

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 11:42:02 AM I am sure you could find a spout at a place like Bed Bath and Beyond. Our locally owned 'everything' store Tri-State has them and I make bottles with spouts out of reused wine bottles with a square of chalkboard paint on the side- that way I can write on it, soap or olive oil or whatever. These are so fun and I sometimes sell them for about $8 each. People love to get one and an embroidered dishtowel as a housewarming gift!

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 10:20:01 AM I saw how someone used a really pretty bottle with a spout that is usually used to pour olive oil out of a bottle. Birlliant! I have the bottle but need to find the spout. I saw Martha Stewart do this...of course! LOL!

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 05:38:48 AM My mom bought me a very pretty hand painted one, and I used it for the first "fill" and then after that, I simply got lazy. My kitchen sink is avocado--like I need a pretty bottle for dishsoap :)

Posted - Feb 25 2008 : 05:35:28 AM I was once in a home where they used a small pewter carafe for their dish soap.
Yeah right. I'd knock that bad boy over in a second as clumsy as I am. :)
