What what your first apron? Does it hold extra special memories for you?
My first apron was given to me by two very dear friends. It was gently used (looks brand new) and was a maternity apron. Oh how just even seeing that apron would lift me out of the pregnancy doldrums. It still is one of my favorite aprons today.
Now I have a few, a couple half aprons from a great-great aunt's collection, one from a soap swap, one from a very generous farmgirl, and of course my Maternity apron which I am saving for that special day when we decide to enlarge our family again.

When i was around two years old my grandmother made me an apron out this wonderful old fashioned fabric, it had dancing bears on it. I can't find it anywhere, but if ever i do, I'll post a picture, it was such an amazing gift for a little kid. Aprons ar just so wonderful. I made myself what I consider my power apron a few weeks ago, it has a Virgin of Guadalupe bib and a ya ha blue flowered fabric for the bottom. I even put some ball fringe on it. It's February and I figured I needed something to power me through until March....

I hate to say it but no I did not - I look back on that and kick myself for not placing it in a scrapbook. I do still have the matching wall calendar that she gave me. What is so funny is both of my sons are excellent cooks and they both wear aprons (real guys wear aprons) when creating meals. When they where boys I even purchased chefs hats for them when we would bake - what fond memories. They are both better cooks then their girlfriends and do all the cooking in their households. The magic of aprons.

My grandma had an apron just for me hanging in her kitchen when I was little. I wish I still had it ..green gingham. When I was in 7th grade I made another gingham apron..this one a 1/2 apron..in home ec..wish I had that one too..since then I have always had at least one..usually many more aprons. Part of my daily "uniform" unless I am wearing bib overalls.

I just recently learned about my first apron. I came across an old family photo of Christmas dinner at my house growing up circa 1954. Behind me, at the dinner table (in the kitchen) sits my grandma, aunt and mom all wearing their aprons because they had just cooked a huge dinner. And I am in front, smiling real big and wearing the cutest apron - a bib apron with ruffles, and a pocket, made like a ladies apron. I must have gotten it for Christmas. From the expression on my face, I really liked it a lot.

I remember it like it was yesturday. My first apron was given to me by my grandmother when she came over from Frankfurt Germany for a visit. I was around 8 or so and it was a full apron with all the famous places in Frankfurt. I remember wearing it so proudly, my mom had to fold it many times so I would not trip over it. Up until three years ago I still used it but the last time it went in the wash it came out in hunks. Over the years my sons would request to wear the apron when they would help in the kitchen, it was like a badge of honor.

When I was a kid I made an apron and potholder for a 4-H project, I'm pretty sure that was my first ever sewing project. It was a red and white half apron, I think I still have it in a tote stored at my parent's house.
