So I wake up at 5am from stress, think about alot of things, realize what I need to improve about me. IM SUPER STRESSFUL of a person. You name it I worry. I need to lighten up. That came to me in the wee hours. Then I had trouble posting a powerpoint project for class, freaking out. I'm at work, nothing was going right. I just am laughing at this point about how silly life can be:) Amazing huh!? Any stories from you all about silly stressful not going your way days?

Bridget,
The other gals are right. I know it's hard, because it's hard to change a behaviour, but you can do it. My ex used to tell me, "just be happy" and I would get so angry, but you know what? That was probably the only smart thing he ever said to me.

OH CHILE .. I don't much stress over NUTHIN' .. (cept'in when my chilluns or grands aren't feeling well!) life's tooooo dang short to waste all those minutes and hours over stuff that probably in the scheme of things isn't all that important anyhoo!

look back over the years at stuff you stressed over? honestly, HOW IMPORTANT was most of it? surely not enough to drive you to an early grave!

determine to be a FREE SPIRIT. Be 'concerned' about the reeeeeeeeeeeeely important issues in your life .. let the t'other go! xo

THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!

I have been a stressful person all my life - just thought I was responsible for everyone. Two teenage boys almost put me over the top!! Well, never thought too much about it until I went in to the doc with a bad headache that wouldn't leave one day and he told me my blood pressure was over 200 and I really should go to the hospital. He told me it was going to shorten my life. I never thought about the stress when I was your age Bridget, but the effects of it accumulate and I found myself looking at the chance of an early death when I was barely 50. So, I pretty much have a grip on it now, but I wish I would have realized the signifigance earlier. Nothings worth dying over - and don't kid yourself, every day you live with stress, your body's paying attention!!

I find that when I get really stressed I have to take a minute and just kind of "shake it off"- literally. I usually find that a really brisk walk around the block or a rousing game of "Attack" with my dog really helps. Then I just have to try try try again at the stuff that was going wrong before. I also usually try to find something funny about the situation so that I can stay in a better frame of mind.

Two summers ago I was working at a horse ranch and I was driving a 1970 VW bug that had been re-done by a high school kid. It had some mechanical problems but nothing I couldn't fiddle with and fix usually. Well, leaving town the fuel pump died and Napa delivered me a new one, then 20 miles down the road the fuel pump died again! At that point I was running really late for work and was only about 2 miles away. So I ended up having to call the ranch for a ride. We worked hard all day and ended up having to change out the fuel pump in the dark again. It was stressful, but I also got teased and laughed about my fuel pump all day. Now I REALLY get a chuckle out of that day. I remember thinking "two fuel pumps dying in a day?! You gotta be kidding me!" LOL
