Hey girls...I've put up a new blog of my latest findings at the thrift. I've been very busy this weekend and didn't get the chance to post up what I got...didn't get much because I ended up having family come up to visit. Hope to make it back over there later this week.

Enjoy!

Hi Jessica! I was just looking at your wonderful blog and great pictures! Guess what?! We must be related!!!! Daniel Boone is my 13th Great Uncle and his younger brother Israel Boone is my 13th Great Grandfather! I have a big green book of all the decendents of Israel Boone and the entire Bonne Family. Pictures and all. My family (Renfrow) and my name is on the family tree. It was put together by Mary Bonne in the 1960's! She even wrote me a letter. I was born in 1952. Anyways, I know we are cousins!!!

Wilma - you have the perfect eye. I was going to see if you caught on. Yep, it is the same one that you sold at your auction. I change the display at the top for each season.

Janice - I'll let you know for sure if I get accepted or not. I've entered a few photos for it. It would be an honor to have it on display during Derby Week. I just dropped off my photos for the garden show. Here in a few months, I'll be entering again for the Shaker Village Photo Contest. That one is really hard to get into, so that one is a big goal to be selected, even for honorable mention. If you ever come across any art shows, etc in Louisville, let me know.

Jess - I checked that website about the photo contest. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, for sure! How great would it be to have your work on display during Derby Week here in Louisville? Tons and tons of people looking at your photos. And I could walk to all the display locations they listed. I'd be taking my friends on nice lunchtime walks to Main Street! :D

Thank you Nancy! I got a little boy and girl that I need to take a photo of and post up. They are about the same style. I had them originally over there where the other two are now. The lady that lived there painted the bathroom that color. That was the color of my prom dress, so my hubby calls it the prom potty room. Go figure. It was really hard trying to come up with something to go with that color. I did have it as black bears but bears and coral just don't look good together. So the bears took a hike and ran down the hall to the office. I decided to do country garden and it worked. I have a couple of live vines in there and they grew better in there than anywhere else in the house. I just started them last year and they are really taking off.

I am in such a garden mode that I think I may get a few more potted plants. I had a few bulbs that I got for Christmas, put them in vases with water and watched them grow. Very neat way to teach your kiddos about roots and plant growth.

Here is the show that I was talking about:
http://www.celebratelifephotocontest.com/

It is open to the public and I won't find out until a few weeks if I was accepted to it. Keep your fingers crossed!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it!! There will be a reception for the Glories of the Garden Art Exhibit at the UK Arboreteum coming up March 9th from 2-4PM, but the exhibit is open from Feb 22-Mar 21st. They have it at the arboretum and in the "presidents room" of the UK Singletary Arts Center.

There is a gallery hop in April over in Lexington. I participated in it back a couple of months ago. I'm hoping to get in with the one this April with a few more pieces. I get so much more excited over this the more I do it. I'm itching for spring to get here with the first blooms on the flowers and the grass turning green and leaves popping out on the trees.

Jess - When is the photography show here in Louisville that you're going to enter? Your work is just beautiful. Will the show be open to the public? I'd love to see your photos in person.

Oh I just lied - eeek...I'm working on posting more photos up here in a few. I had some visitors today and then had to run errands.

Lea, I think that I may have a photo of that ugly owl. I hate it so much and wish there is something I could do. Hmm...you know I may just have to take a sledgehammer to it and make the garbage guy haul it off piece by piece or I could take the pieces and use them in my flower beds. Hmmmm....

Thank you so much for your kind words about my flower photos. I really appreciate it. I'm dropping those two off tomorrow for the art show. I've been asked to show a few of my tobacco photographs for another show coming up in April. Miss Wilma has one of my tobacco photos that I took last summer hanging up at the house with a mat & framed in old tobacco barn wood. I think I may do that for these photos. I've been getting a few orders in with the photos and I've been working on a new project too.

Ok girls...I'm gonna get those photos up here in a few. Will let you know definitely for sure.

What a clever idea to hang that bench on the wall! I love it!

I just found your blog again ... I lost all my links and have to start over again. Your flower photos are just incredible. I can just see those in black frames and hung randomly on a wall. Beautiful art! And I saw that I have been tagged. That has never happened to me before. I didn't know so I'll get on that right away!

A 100 pound owl? I bet that is something to see ...

Blessings, Lea

I surely did! I prefer writing loo as opposed to bathroom or the ever-so-formal lavatory.

HAHA - you said Loo! That cabinet came with the house. I will have to take a photo of our sink when I get the camera charged up. It is an old antique cabinet that had a hole cut out and the fixture put in it. It's pretty neat and still has the wheels on the bottom. The lady that lived here before us had a few antiques and she was going to take the medicine cabinet, but decided to leave it behind...along with a lot of garden statues. Anyone need a 100 pound concrete owl?? It is so ugly and too heavy to move. It's small in height, and I hate it!! haha.

That little black bench is TOO cute, Jess! If my bum were only small enough! I'd love to see it hung up in your bedroom with all the black furniture. Bet it looks wonderful! Where did you get your medicine-type cabinet in the loo?

Thank you guys. Oh Wilma that little bench was just adorable. I thought of Miss Jonni and Shakertown when I saw it. Nancy, I got 4 of them. Two of them fled the flock and went to my mom's home. They are about the size of a quarter if even that big. They are TOO cute. I have them in front of my "village" of houses. My nephews saw them and went "look the sheep have their own house!" haha. I did finally get an Easter Tree too. I'm in spring mode here already and I think I'm going to get out my spring stuff. Found the tree 1/2 off and I have ornaments to put on it. I'll take photos when the camera get charged up. Oh, I forgot to take a photo of the little cup and saucer that I got too!
