This little baby doll is my son Nathan's baby. She is a real sweetie and they named her Sadie! My Grandmothers name was Sadie so we are thrilled! She is now my 4th granddaughter and the rest of the cutie pie's are boys, 7 of them! I was just looking at her newborn picture and said out loud to myself "she looks like me"!!!!! We live close to 9 of the grandchildren and 2 live in Oregon! My life has changed forever because of these grandbabes! Isn't being a Grandmother the best!!!! Priceless collectibles! Thanks for asking Frannie!

Hugs, Maryjane Lee

oh maryjane .. congratulations!!! boy? girl? name?

we're very excited about our new one due mid-June .. that will be NUMBER FIVE (plus that ONE great-grande!) they don't know boy or girl and always want to be surprized! wednesday says that usually at some point in her pregnancy (well, with her two others) .. a NAME would pop in her head that she loved .. and never another one .. and if it was a boy name .. she had a boy .. and if it was a girl name .. she had a girl.

Big brother, LUCAS has chosen ZACK for a boy (Zachary) .. and he wants another SOFIA if it is a girl!

tell us about the new little darling! xo

I love so many different types of collectibles too. If I could afford it though, Kosta Boda glass pieces would probably be the one I would go with.

Hmmm . . . so many things I love . . . transferware, blue spatter enamelware, old treenware, quilts . . . hard to choose. But I think the one collection I would keep would be friends.

Heather, you know that a collector can't be "out collected"....Your post about your mother's books just made my competitive streak rise up....I've got to collect more books!!

Frannie, this has been a cute topic. It's interesting to see all the cool things gals collect.

Out of all the things I collect, books are by far the most in quantity.....probably about 2000 in the whole house. I know that sounds almost impossible AND I've skimmed, read or at least touched all of them.

I would collect books. With all the rewriting of history I sometimes feel like the keeper of true history. I have compulsions to have original print or early print books. I love old books....1800's...I do a lot of buying on ebay.

When I was in high school, I got $20 a month for allowance. My dad was paid once a month, so I got my allowance once a month. Every month, I would high tail it downtown with my $20 and buy a pair of shoes. Then, I was broke for the rest of the month - but I had one heck of a collection of shoes!

lea .. luckily, in 'real' life .. we don't have to choose jus' one .. but this little 'exercise' is to prioritize and find out what would come out NUMBER ONE!

ha! rebekah .. you sound like my year and a half grandaughter, SOFIA .. we call her 'litle Imelda Marcos .. she loves shoes and has lots of them already .. shoooot .. she likes EVERYONE's shoes. At a family dinner recently, she was seen constantly lifting the table cloth and peeking under it ... one of the boy cousins asked: WHAT is sofia looking at? Wednesday, (sofia's mom) just smiled and replied: "Grandma Emma has on new boots"!!

paper items- books, newspapers, letters, notes, takeout menus, anything with words on it. Ads. scribbles. I like to paste the loose bits into a journal. I think this is so much more fun and interesting than a plain writing journal.

Frannie, this question just has me all tore up. Why does it have to be just one? I love old oil lamps, worn out quilts, decorating books, cookbooks, old baskets, ... I love be surrounded with things that have a history. I can't imagine living where you do, Frannie! I think I'd be daydreaming ALL the time! But, okay, if I have to pick just one I'd have to go with my quilts. They add color & texture of my home, but are so comforting especially after hanging in the fresh air.

What a great question!

I like to collect a few things, cast iron, yellowware, anything folky, prim and fun. My collections come and go, and I go through different stages. I like what I like at the time. If I had a choice to collect something for my entire life, it would be good experiences and good memories.

I love collecting vintagey linens, esp aprons (as you know Frannie from my shopping trip last weekend) :-) I love all of the unique colors and patterns, and just wonder of the story they each tell. A very close 2nd would have to be pincushions/make-dos/pinkeeps.
