My computer is dying a slow horrible death. First I thought I had a virus because it had been operating (albeit slowly and weirdly) and then when I re-booted it just wouldn't load the operating system (windows). So I had to reformat a few weeks ago. And now, everything is all weird again. It take minutes to load simple programs like Internet Explorer. My Microsoft Office is non-functioning after just a few days of using it.
When I run diagnostic programs it says there is a problem with my harddrive. So in addition to having to pay for a brake job on my car, a new tire (and possibly a whole new set after the studded ones are taken off), I need to buy a new computer too.
It's amazing how dependent on our computers we get, isn't it?

yes, I can tell this one is slowing down hour by hour. I am taking it in today and will have a loaner for a few days while they replace this one. *sigh*
And now my brand new camera is having issues. Everyone please pray to the technology gods that it is just the battery being silly and not my beautiful camera.

I feel for you Alee. Yesterday we had to take in my son's new (only 5 months old) notebook, and they think the hard drive is gone on it (won't start the hard drive at all). He had not done any backups (live and learn) so the computer will be wiped out and will have to start from factory all over again. Thankfully it's under warranty, but he and his sister are lost without it already, for school work. We become so dependent on technology, don't we?

Yup, I back up my files daily now (all 3 of them-lol) And I talked to the people who I got the computer from (A University program) and they are going to fix it all for me for "free". Well, technically I paid about 3x the worth of my computer, but it will be getting a new CD-RW, a new keyboard, and a new hard drive. It already got a new screen when a friend knocked it off a table and onto a cement floor. So hopefully the new parts will keep it going for a few more years! :D

Ooh, Alee, I feel your pain. Mine did something similar last month and I realized ALL of my online work--magazine--different business websites, and clients that I keep in contact with ARE ON IT! Yikes! Not good :(
I am hoping the money fairy finds its way to you. I suppose it would be hilarious of me to ask if there's an internet cafe around?
