Argh!! My dog chewed on little Millie!!!!!! I think shes okay-a little tramatised! But he pulled off her hair and eyes!! Yeah! I guess she would be more than a little tramatized!! I'm gonna try and fix her and then give her and the rest of the gang a spray with "bitter Apple"- dogs hate it!! Anyways!! How do you keep your dogs from eating all your babies?!!!

nancy jo .. several years ago .. our dolly club did a 'travelling doll' project. we each made (or chose) a fav dolly from our collections .. and each month .. a new 'home' was chosen (from among our doll club members) .. the doll would go live with another dolly club member for the month .. she would be taken on adventures and the doll would collect clothing, accessories and souvenirs from each home .. it was much fun to see and read and hear all about her time with her new family each month.

i chose LINNEA .. from Monet's Garden .. dolly .. i'll have to post sometime her treasures and adventures .. it might be fun if you let Jack and Dave visit different homes to bring back adventures and treasures. i think the travelling farmgirl dollies had a similar adventure. are they still travelling?

Oh Frannie, The Velveteen Rabbit has always been one of my favorite "tales". I suppose I have always had a propensity for ragged much loved dollies and toys. You little poem is so sweet...and I think Kelsey will treasure her much loved dollie forever.

I will tell you a story dear to my heart. When my niece was born her Daddy stopped on his way back to the hospital to buy her a little toy bear. It was a simple little bear with shiny black shoe button eyes. From the time she could toddle she carried "Teds" with her everywhere. My neice was a "thumb sucker" and sleeps with Teds near her mouth, even now! He never smelled very good. LOL Over the years Teds became worn, his fur was rubbed off and eventually bits of him fell away. Being the stitcher in our family, I was asked to make repairs many times. I attached arms that were dangling, legs that had come unattached, and once an ear that had so little left I added a silk rosebud to give it something to hold on to. Teds, even though he was "much loved" was always proudly displayed on my neice's pillow. I hadn't seen him for a while, when one day I was visiting and spotted a little pile of fluff & fur on her pillow. It was poor Teds. Nothing left but stuffing, thread, two shoe button eyes, and a pink rosebud. I offered to sew Teds up inside a new bear...but she declined saying she wouldn't be able to touch him anymore.
Recently, I saw Teds...Two shiny black eyes held together by a bit of thread. She adores him still.

I am thinking I will offer to make a pretty little drawstring bag to keep Teds in...what's left of him.

oh i have to tell you gurlz a sweet story .. years ago .. i made a little rag angel for a friend of mine .. who was going to give it to her five year old daughter, kelsey. (i met kelsey and just adored her!)

about two months later .. i met her mom at a party and she came up to me and was almost beside herself! she told me the story of how her little girl slept with her angel dolly each night .. and had 'drooled' on her and made a 'spot' .. she was wondering if i could 'fix' it! (i tea/coffee stained my dolls and if they get 're-wet' .. the shades might shift a little.)

i thought of the angel dolly and of little kelsey finding comfort in her dolly holding her close and snuggling her as she slept the night through.

i took my friends hands and looked her closely in the eyes and SMILED. I said: "if you really, really want me to 'repair' her . .i can try .. BUT .. think about this .. YEARS from now .. hopefully Kelsey will have fond memories of her 'perfect' dolly .. but .. remember the 'velveteen rabbit'? years of holding him tight and he got threadbear and time-worn and it was BECAUSE of his wear and tear .. that he became the 'favorite' toy." I told her that when her daughter gives this angel dolly to her own daughter someday .. she could tell her that the little spot upon her cheek was there because she loved her". I told her to just wait and think about it a few weeks and when next we met .. if she still wanted me to fix the dolly i would.

I then went home and wrote a little poem .. oh gosh .. i wish i could find it or remember it all (it actually RHYMED) .. but i told as if the dolly were telling it to kelsey .. it tells how when kelsey awoke and saw the spot she was sad at the thought that she had 'spoiled' her. The little dolly snuggles closer to the crying child and ...

"whispers in her ear"
oh dry your eyes
and do not fear ..
for you have made me REAL
my sweet kelsey dear."

i embroidered the enitre poem on a dolly quilt .. and when i next saw her momma .. was pleased that she had decided to treasure the little 'slobber spot' .. i then presented her with the dolly quilt.

now .. if you need me to make up a poem about 'dog chews' .. i'll try .. but perhaps that little dolly of yours, does indeed need a little 'plastic surgery'!!! xo

Debi- What a traumatic event for you all! I am sure Millie will be restored, do pass onto her that our battle scars indeed make us a bit more interesting once they heal;)
Did I hear a little bird tell me that you are headed my way in May? I can't wait to take you to Ren Fair!!!!! You are gonna have the BEST time here.

Oh Debi! Your poor poor babe! Sounds like Frannie's "staff" can fix her good as new though! Perhaps she can find a hat to pull down low over her injuries whilst travelling...

Our little Corgi has a propensity for dirty socks, otherwise is a gem. We do however have a large orange cat who likes the occassional tussle with a doll or teddy. I am continually finding a doll with hair askew, or a teddy, mysteriously "fallen" from it's chair after kitty has visited. I find that clicking my tongue is enough to stop him in his tracks, IF I can catch him in the act!

I need a CAT whisperer.

We LOVE Cesar too! We are having a few issues with a Black Mouth Cur who does not seem to like any strangers & that includes all of our friends & family, so we are really trying to get a good walk in, & making him sit anytime he goes by the front door. The walk is the hardest, cause he is on invisible fence (about 3 acres worth) & I am a bit lazy to put him in the leash, when I can just open the door let him RUN like the dickens!!
Oh & that bitter apple stuff.. I had a Great Dane once; where I had left the tube on my coffee table & she ate the whole contents of the tube.. So much for tasting yucky

oh debi .. our former dog .. BOO .. who looked like a big furry bedroom slipper .. loved 'stuffed animals' to chew on .. i would hit the thrift store every month to get him one or two. i mostly kept my dollies out of his reach .. but if he ever went near them .. i gruffly barked: NO! (like a momma dog!)

Cabin and Creek have never picked up anything to chew on .. gosh .. they are GREAT dogs! Creek is a 'likker' and loves to gently nibble on fingers .. but she's never picked up anything to nibble on that didn't taste like skin.

I think the Dog Whisperer teaches US to do that GRUFF sound NO! everytime our dogs attempt to do something we don't want them to do. He has been a god-send in our training methods of cabin and creek. EVERYONE WHO HAS A DOG .. I BELIEVE .. SHOULD READ HIS BOOK .. AND USE HIS METHODS. WE'VE HAD A LIFETIME OF DOGS .. AND THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST EFFECTIVE LEARNING TOOL WE HAVE EVER HAD .. MAKES LIVING WITH POOCHES SOOOOOOOO MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE.

their only 'downfall' is that they are like two big dust bunnies .. all that fur attracts dirt and when they walk through the house .. it just fall off of them. i SWEAR right now .. (i have not been very attentive to my floors lately) .. if i were to try to WASH them without sweeping and vacuuming .. i would have a HUGE mud puddle .. dirt and water equal MUD.

now .. i tell you what ... can you box little millie up and send her to the orphanage .. we have a 'dolly hospital' located here and Sister Frances Catherine will be happy to fix her 'good as new'. HA! they do have life-time warranties!!

i'll be lookin' for her to arrive at the train depot in town. xo (oh .. be sure to package a little chocolate for her to nibble on to soothe her little soul 'en transit'. xo
