who woulda' thunk you could actually have FUN when you gotta' git your teeth drilled and your mouth poked around in for two and a half hours!!!

i just had my six-month cleaning .. two 'permanent' caps put on .. one prepped with a temporary cap (gotta' go back for the perm one!)

i love my dentist and his whole office of sweet ladies. they are so smiley and friendly and lots of fun! the dentist explains everything he is doing rather than jus' poking and jabbing .. which really puts me at ease .. cuz' he does it with a smile .. and he tells 'stories' while working on your teeth .. you usually can't answer or comment .. cuz' your mouth is WIDE open and his hands and a drill is in there!

they have lots of patients but they seem to remember things you said on previous visits .. and will ask about your family.

NOT that i want to go there more than i have to! shoooooooooooot!!! the price of dentistry today!!! i told him these caps he put on my teeth musta' bought him a new boat .. or paid off his mortgage!

do YOU have a nice dentist too?

Frannie- I don't have any crowns. I had to have one of my front teeth pulled because my body was rejecting it as a foreign object. I had a horrible bike wreck when I was 8 where I smashed up my face pretty good. My two front teeth had to be re-aligned in my mouth because...well, lets just say it looked like I had lost my baby teeth and my adult ones hadn't grown in yet...

Anyway... several years later the tooth got infected and had to be pulled. The dentist told me several options when I was there alone and when I went back with my parents to make a treatment decision he basically said I was a liar and that I was requesting a treatment that didn't exist (even though he was the one that told me about it!) He wanted me to have a retainer with a fake tooth attached to it that I would have to take out to eat. This was when I was in High School and the thought of having to take my front tooth out to eat every lunch period made me almost have a panic attack and I was mad/hurt/scared and so I went home in tears.

The next dentist we tried knew the exact treatment I was trying to describe and did an awesome job and was always super kind.

sherri .. that is SUCH a great idea! i want goggles with a movie next time .. and you better believe i'm gonna' tell him about it!

thank goodness we have a dental insurance rider .. caps here in kentucky (at least at our dentist over in campbellsville .. are $1,200 EACH .. times THREE .. OUCH OUCH OUCH .. luckily, insurance pays half. i was bemoaning the cost to a friend and we were making our list of what we could buy for $3,600. (a big party for all the farmgirls was on MY list!!) but alas and alack .. it's GONE GONE GONE!

lisa .. our dentist is young (and cute) too! i remember the 'olden days' when NEEDLES HURT .. DRILLING HURT and your whole mouth ached for several days! AFLAC .. isn't that a duck?

alee .. i had that SAME childhood dentist! made me scared for years! wee your crowns as hatefully expensive as here?

bridget .. find another one if he hurts you .. or scares you! dentistry today can be so gentle .. this is NOT to say that i didn't give off a couple .. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHS!! .. i have a 'deep pocket' .. bone loss .. and he had to whittle it down .. and even with lotsa' novocaine .. i felt a coupla' twinges .. i swear .. i think it SCARES THEM more than it scares me when i wince a little! They ALWAYS stop to see if i'm alright.

jessie .. wowzer .. a 'new age' dentist office .. do they let you bathe or take a nap?

I like my dentist fine, but his office is kind of weird - more spa than dentist office! Water fountains, scented candles, soft Muzak....

I love my dentist too! I HAVE to have a nice dentist. I had an experience with a grumpy old dentist when I was in High School that left me in tears and near having a panic attack. After that I decided to take control and if I don't like the vibe in the office- they aren't for me. I really like dentists that make sure you have enough laughing gas and novacaine to make you be a happy camper.

I just switched dentists because we finally got one here in Idaho City last November. This guy is GREAT. I love him. My daughter loves him. In fact, mine sounds just like yours! Maybe they went to the same Chair-side Manner School!

Our new dentist is fairly young, has a very nice wife(they are expecting their first child) and has wonderful staff who are lots of fun. DD goes in again tomorrow for 3 fillings. I'm done until July:) I just had the permanent crown put on last week which was a piece of cake and thanks to AFLAC I have a credit there now!!

My daughter has GREAT insurance and she goes to a dentist where she puts on some sort of goggles that have a movie running in them. Now that's my kind of dentist!
