STILL SNOWING!!! Dh is shoveling off our roof AGAIN. One of our streets was closed so the city would have somewhere to put the snow. While the county was declared a disaster area, the city was not. Our mayor is going to declare the city a disaster later today; not only because of the extreme snowfall but because we are almost out of water! He called an emergency city council meeting. Can you believe with all this snow, we're almost out of water? Dh says he thinks it's a combination of a water main leak and the fact that so many people leave their water running to prevent freezing. Also, the creek that our water comes from is seriously frozen over. I didn't tell dh, but I think I over-did it on the snow dances
Well, I suppose I can melt snow for all the water we need and I guess we'll be taking sponge baths to conserve. It's a different story for all the businesses here, though. I don't know if they can even remain open without running water.
Alee, how are things going up in your neck of the woods? Are you still getting hammered with snow? By the way it sounds from Brenda who's just over the border in Spokane, I'd think you'd be getting all that, too.
I thought about doing sun dances, now. But we really don't want it to warm up too fast or we'll have another kind of mess. I can't believe I'm saying that as I have lettuce and pea seedlings in the kitchen windows waiting for the snow to melt enough to get to the greenhouse.

Well I'm in L.A. so nothing short of a miracle is going to bring snow our way. sigh. Reminds me to call my folks and see how they're doing in Spokane, WA. I'm SO lucky to have a sister that lives next door to them. She keeps a good eye on them.
I'm off to Chicago next week and I here it just hasn't stopped. My boyfriend Dan is eriously depressed. It just keeps coming with no signs of letting up. As much as I love the snow, I think this would get to me after a bit too.
Who was it that posted pictures of the twin moose in the snow? What great pictures, wonder if they're still around?
And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk to blossom |

ya, me too.. We have got no more than a dusting here and there since moving here. We were under the impression they got lots of snow- Carson City and beyond does.. not here. oh well. off to bigger and better things.

I'll just bet nobody has thought of that, Alee. I wonder if they could even get power to where they would need them?
Jonni, I'll try that "send it somewhere else" dance and see what I can do for you. No cabin fever yet. Just too busy shoveling (and cross country skiing when I can sneak away!) But when I come in all wet and tired there just isn't anything better than a hot cup of tea or cocoa by the woodstove in my superfleece socks!
Debra, if this is what you're looking for, you're in for a treat! It's not like this every year. This is an El Nina year which is why it's so much. I guess it used to be like this every year, but that was a long time ago. Global warming issues? I'm not sure.

Actually everything in our neck of the woods is melting. We have a major Chinook wind blowing from the southwest right now. All the icicles on the eaves have either fallen or are melting I have a feeling that if even one square inch of the dark shingled roof was exposed to the sun, the whole roof would clear within an hour. That is how drastic some of these things are changing! It's amazing.
Lisa- I hope a gentle Chinook starts to blow for you. Enough to unfreeze the creek a bit and start the snow melting. You are right. You don't need a quick thaw, but losing a foot or two of snow would probably help at this point! I hope the town keeps running! Have they though about putting stock tank warmers in the creek? The kind that keeps water unfrozen for horses and such? I bet 5 or 6 in an area would help out a lot!! You might have to go pour boiling water on the creek first to get an area to put the heaters in to...but once they are in and plugged in, they should really help. Maybe an idea to present to the council?

Gosh, I can't believe you guys are still getting all the crazy weather. I hope you can just snuggle inside with some tea or chocolate and enjoy the weather. I'm sure by now you've probably got cabin fever with all these crazy winter storms!!!
I'd just like a "little" snow our way, so maybe you could do a "send it somewhere else" dance?
