Posted - Feb 05 2008 : 3:29:49 PM OK here I am again on my decluttering mission...but with a new twist. Instead of trying to hide or store my goodies I'm trying to incorporate them with new functions. I did get rid of a car load of junk from the basement. Still lots more to do. BUT what types of things do you use to gather your stuff. Like I'm at my desk and it is a forever battle to keep it clear. I hate papers....but receipts bills important crappola I must keep. HELP ME

Posted - Feb 06 2008 : 08:33:43 AM That's what I am doing right now. Not this minute of course, but still. We have so much STUFF! I have literally started at the top of the house and gone through room by room. If I haven't used it in a year, it goes to the basement for the community yard sale. The basement looks horrible and I'm still in the process but its amazing how roomy things are in the areas I've finished! Feels good!
I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by. ~anon |

Posted - Feb 06 2008 : 08:28:02 AM Hey, I'm a FlyBaby too! That website is incredible and has saved my life! I especially love the 27 fling boogie. Which is walking into a room with a bag or a box and without thinking too much "flinging" or throwing away 27 things. It's very liberating and taking those baby steps has been a God-send. If you haven't visited, go now to www.flylady.net

Posted - Feb 05 2008 : 4:01:25 PM A friend actually scans onto his computer all his important paperwork (bills, etc.) and saves them on a jump drive. Then he just destroys the paper. Of course you wouldn't want to do this in situations where the origional is needed. I'm thinking of doing it myself. I'm tired of the paper piles :)

Posted - Feb 05 2008 : 3:57:37 PM i use to do the flylady thing. now i just use some of her principles and the house stays pretty good...few hot spots give me aches and pains, but i can handle that. the flylady thing that drove me absolutly nuts was the shoe thing...i cannot get anything done in my shoes. i even garden barefoot.

Posted - Feb 05 2008 : 3:50:18 PM Yes Jessie, I am a flyer, but I need like ways to totally hm I don't know. The house is in control we just have those hotspots in 2 rooms and just too much stuff. I want to bring out what I love and use it and get rid of the others. I guess I should say how do you decorate with what you love and make it so its not clutter? Make sense?

Posted - Feb 05 2008 : 3:36:27 PM Have you ever visited FlyLady.com? Marsha Cilley, the Fly Lady, wrote a book about cleaning your house, getting rid of clutter, setting up routines, etc. I read it a couple of years ago, and it really did help me get my house under control. I think she wrote the book based on the website, so her suggestions are all on the website for free. Most of her advice is common sense, but I guess we all need to be reminded of common sense from time to time! The book was good, but I found the website too corny to stomach. Still, if you need some motivation, you may want to check it out. |
