I like the makeup, hair, lotions, potions, girl clothing type of stuff, painting my nails, trying new products, buying cute purses and shoes. I love it all!!! I like to look nice for myself and then my husband and I like the whole process of getting ready, putting on my lotion, trying different make up, sassinng up my hair, etc...

I got onto talking about this with my girlfriend because we were talking about there is a difference between women who are confident and enjoy the process of being "girly" and those who do it to be accepted by others. I as a tomboy growing up, but when I would go out, I was still on the girly side. I never preferred one over the other nor did I learn that one look was better than the other. I have been accused of perpetuating a standard for women, even though that is not my intention, because I supposedly "buy into" how a woman should look. It is such a delicate balance. Do you judge a women first on looks, then find out what she about, or do you not even notice looks and go for the spirit and self? I personally and honestly, don't think about it. I am a gabber, so I always just start up conversations. I do know I can't be around people who constantly comment on others looks.

It is so interesting... what are you thoughts on this??

Cheers,
Heather

i would be fibbing if i didn't admit to noticing how a woman is dressed, carries herself, smiles, her self-confidence her friendliness. The BEST or WORSE dressed woman .. if she is 'mean-spirited' is NOT a pretty picture! The BEST or WORSE dressed woman (best and worse are, of course, subjective!!!!!!!!!!) are beautiful if they are nice, kind, caring and friendly. xo

I go through phases. Sometimes I love doing the hair-makeup-high heels thing, and otherdays I am happy to stay in my yoga pants!

I have to say it really depends on the day for me. I LOVE high heels, make up, fixing my hair, having my nails done, and doing girly things, but like I said, it REALLY depends on the day. I also like to wear hats and bandanas and jeans and boots and big belts and things like that. I think it's funny how much I can change from one outfit to another....but my personality pretty much fits with whatever style I choose that day....

I love being a girl...a country girl. That means I can grub in the dirt all day, then dress up to go out! Perfect balance!

As for style. I have an artys, country girl, just because I like it style. It all goes together because it is all me. Most of my clothes are thifted, handmade, or a combination of both.

What we write today slipped into our souls some other day when we were alone and doing nothing.

I am a girlie girl too Heather. I guess it's the way I look. I have really curly hair & dress sort of romantic & feminine. I'm not really much of a shopper, but I do like to have my hair done and look for pretty old things to wear. I'm finally old enough to really not care what everyone else likes or what's trendy. I've finally found my "style". I don't do my nails though. It would be silly, as I am always scrubbing or staining, or painting.

I will talk to anyone & everyone, much to the embarrassment of my children. Husband says I am like a friendly dog...not sure, but I think he means that in a nice way. I have been judged pretty severely in the past because of the way I looked (used to be a punk rock momma ), and would never dream of doing it to anyone. A lesson hard learned.

I try in general not to judge people. Everyone has a story and everyone has "stuff" that makes them who they are. Who am I to judge their experience? I feel like you can still love and respect people who are very different from yourself. You can disagree IN LOVE.

If you put all my friends in a room and asked someone, "What kind of meeting do you think this is?" I think they'd be really confused.

I don't think I am either one either...I wouldn't want to be without my mascara or earrings, but I am happy digging in the dirt in a pair of worn out overalls, or slogging through the mud to milk the cow. (snow today!!) My mom and sister are alot more girly than I am, but I am just fine with that. High heels are not my friend, but I do love romantic movies and bubble baths. I try really hard not to judge people by their looks, and find it so interesting that we are all so different!

I am neither a "girly girl" nor a tomboy. I think I fall somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. I shave my legs, pluck my eyebrows, and wear perfume, but I also avoid high heels and I hate clothes shopping.

I think it's interesting that we generally attach the phrase "girly girl" to one's outside appearance only. For example, a woman with a short haircut, jeans, polo shirt, and loafers wouldn't be referred to as a "girly girl" no matter how much she enjoys other traditionally female pursuits, like romantic movies, bubble baths, doll collections, etc. I read a book several years ago that talked a lot about marketing strategies aimed toward the feminine woman. It was called, "Pink Think." It really made me think!
